For more than thirty years, Akira Toriyama’s prolific Dragon Ball series has been at the front of the shonen genre and helped inspire countless other action series. Goku will never relent in his mission to protect his friends, family, and the planet that he loves, but it’s led to him squaring off against some extremely dangerous villains. Surviving Cerealian, Granolah, is the current threat who wages war with Goku in Dragon Ball Super’s manga, and he represents an unprecedented level of power and rage.

Granolah has acquired his strength through unconventional methods, which makes him a very unique antagonist. Distinct timelines have been established in both of Dragon Ball Z’s successors, Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super, but it’s appealing to explore how Granolah might perform against some of Dragon Ball GT’s heaviest hitters.

10 Baby Is A Parasitic Menace With Delusions Of Grandeur

Baby rages for power in Dragon Ball GT

Dragon Ball GT’s Baby is the first major villain that really connects and he effectively forces the Saiyans to reckon with their past. Baby has parasitic properties that allow him to not only possess the Earth’s population, but co-opt Vegeta’s body and once again turn him into a villain. Curiously, Baby and Granolah might be able to find common ground due to their shared hatred towards the Saiyan race and the pain that they’ve caused their people, but Baby is just too much of a liability. He’d recognize Granolah’s immense power and want to turn him into his permanent host.

9 The Heights Of Super Saiyan 4 Goku Aren’t Much By Super’s Standards

Anime Dragon Ball GT SS4 Goku Kills Baby

Dragon Ball GT really embraces its Super Saiyan 4 transformation, and it’s one of the few elements of the series that’s been able to endure in the fan community. As impressive as the power of Super Saiyan 4 can be, Dragon Ball Super has sufficiently surpassed it through its subsequent transformations. In the continuing war against Granolah, Goku’s superlative Ultra Instinct transformation still hasn’t been enough to top Granolah, so Super Saiyan 4 Goku is going to make even less of an impact. Not only is he weaker, but he also has less experience.

8 Dr. Myuu Is Dragon Ball GT’s Resident Mad Scientist

Anime Dragon Ball GT Dr Myuu

Dragon Ball GT introduces Dr. Myuu, a brilliant, yet unstable, scientist who bears more than a little in common with Dr. Gero. Dr. Myuu and Dr. Gero are able to pool their intellect together in the afterlife, and they concoct a diabolical scheme that spawns a new Android, but also opens a rift between the worlds of the living and the dead.

Dr. Myuu’s strength comes from his intelligence, and his physical power is quite lacking. Granolah would resent Dr. Myuu’s twisted brand of science and make sure that he suffers for it.

7 Ledgic’s Resolve And Honor Would Only Aggravate Granolah

Anime Goku vs Ledgic

Ledgic is an early enemy that Goku needs to take down in Dragon Ball GT, which functions as a strong opportunity to demonstrate where his current powers lie in his new child-sized body. Ledgic is significant since he forces Goku to turn into a Super Saiyan, but he does the bare minimum here. Ledgic doesn’t force Goku to tap into any higher echelons of Super Saiyan status, whereas Granolah is a character that makes this process absolutely necessary. Ledgic feels like a training match for a compromised Goku, whereas Granolah is a legitimate challenge for the character at his best.

6 Piccolo Represents An Apex Namekian And Would Still Fall Short

Anime dragon ball gt piccolo's decision

Piccolo faces fluctuating focus throughout Dragon Ball, and fortunately he seems due for major development in the upcoming Dragon Ball Super movie, Super Hero. However, Piccolo’s progress in Dragon Ball GT is much less extreme. The character increasingly embraces his role as Earth’s Guardian, which culminates in a major sacrifice for the good of the planet, as well as Goku. Granolah may understand Piccolo’s ideals, or even exhibit some reverence towards his Namekian heritage. But when push comes to shove, Granolah would easily come out on top.

5 The Megalomaniacal General Rilldo Lacks The Resources To Topple Granolah

Anime rilldo

Machines become a constant concern during Dragon Ball GT’s earliest episodes. Goku and company learn just how many different types of villainous machines are out there in the universe and hungry for domination. General Rilldo is a fairly intimidating figure because of the power that he commands, but he still represents a more subdued degree of Dragon Ball antagonist.

Rilldo gets defeated with even minimal Super Saiyan involvement, which proves he’s nowhere near Granolah’s level of power. Even with the full support of Machine Mutant planet M-2 at his disposal, Rilldo would still fall short against Granolah.

4 Master Dolltaki And His Twisted Ideals Would Leave Granolah Furious

Dolltaki hugs his Pan Doll in Dragon Ball GT.

Dragon Ball GT deserves some serious credit for coming up with some of the strangest and most absurd characters that have ever appeared in Dragon Ball. Planet Luud is full of disturbing revelations, but it’s also the home for Master Dolltaki, a very detached and worrisome figure who finds comfort in transforming prisoners into cherished dolls. Dolltaki becomes particularly obsessed over Pan. Dolltaki may not want to turn Granolah into one of his playthings, but the Cerealian would find his behavior abhorrent and guarantee that he suffers.

3 Gohan Fails To Realize His Potential In Dragon Ball GT

Anime Dragon Ball GT Gohan Punched By Rildo

Dragon Ball GT’s lack of interest in Gohan’s continued development as a fighter is extremely disappointing considering that so much of Dragon Ball Z is focused on him coming into his own as a viable successor to his father. Gohan still has his Ultimate/Mystic upgrade in Dragon Ball GT, but fighting seems to largely be in the character’s rearview mirror. No significant improvements are experienced by Gohan in Dragon Ball GT, which would make him an easy target for Granolah, especially since the Cerealian holds a nasty grudge against all Saiyans.

2 Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta Has Been Surpassed In Dragon Ball Super

Anime Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta

One of the biggest details from Dragon Ball GT that the fans still argue over is the utility of Super Saiyan 4 as a transformation. Dragon Ball Super has forged its own path with Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan Blue, and beyond, which have largely made the GT upgrade irrelevant. Granolah receives the honor of going up against Vegeta’s Ultra Ego transformation for the first time, which holds its own against Granolah, but still isn’t enough. If Ultra Ego Vegeta can’t win, then there’s no hope for Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta either.

1 Omega Shenron Represents The Strongest Of The Malevolent Shadow Dragons

Anime Omega Shenron

The Shadow Dragons are the final challenge that threatens the safety of the universe in Dragon Ball GT. Each of these seven enemies are dangerous in their own way, but Omega Shenron is commonly considered to be the most aggressive of the lot. Omega Shenron does lead to the incredibly powerful union of Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, but Granolah is likely able to take out every single Shadow Dragon with minimal difficulty. Granolah hasn’t faced Gogeta, but he’s taken on Goku and Vegeta as a team, with substantially higher power levels.
