The new chapter of Dragon Ball Super sees Goku pushing his limits once again.

MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR DRAGON BALL SUPER: CHAPTER 99 FOLLOW

The newly released 86th chapter of Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou's sequel series features the long-awaited climax to the battle with Gas, the Heeter enforcer whose strength was upgraded thanks to a wish from the Dragon Balls. While Gas spends the first half of the chapter giving Goku a brutal beatdown, the heroes eventually manage to overpower the weapon-generating warrior by teaming up: while Goku and Vegeta distract Gas and hold him in place, a reawakened Granolah is able to deliver the notably non-fatal knock-out blow with a fully powered energy blast. Interestingly, Goku sets up Gas for Granolah's final attack by using a previously unseen technique, in which he creates a massive projection of himself using energy, which is able to grab Gas within its massive hands and hold him in place long enough for Granolah to charge up his most powerful attack. The new chapter does not explain how Goku developed this technique, nor does it give the new ability a name.

While this appears to be the end of the Granolah the Survivor arc, it is worth noting that Gas is still alive; Granolah notes that the fighter will be knocked out for a few days, but Dragon Ball villains have a bad habit of attempting to backstab the heroes after they are shown mercy. Fans will have to wait until the release of Dragon Ball Super's 87th chapter, which will officially premiere in English on Aug. 19, to see if the saga really has come to an end and the Heeters have truly been defeated.

A Good Time to Be a Dragon Ball Fan

Aug. 19 will be a big day for Dragon Ball fans, as in addition to the release of Super's latest manga chapter, Crunchyroll will also release the series' latest movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero in theaters in North America. The movie was released in Japan on June 11, and social media spoilers have already revealed many of Super Hero's biggest surprises. While Goku does appear in the movie, the film instead concentrates on Gohan and Piccolo and the bond the two have shared since the young Saiyan's childhood.
