Not too long ago, a new trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Broly premiered, both in Japanese and in English, and with it came a ton of new information about the plot and characters, building up the already huge hype surrounding the film. Though we still don't know the full story of Broly's rebooted tale, we do know a few things, and every bit of the film that's been teased has us excited to see how it all unfolds. There are also a few things we hope to see in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, since it is the first movie to come out under the title of Dragon Ball Super and the film's fantastic animation has definitely built up fan expectations. Fans want this movie to make up for some of the less-than-stellar moments of Dragon Ball Super, and to further build the wild and unique world of Dragon Ball.

From what we know, Dragon Ball Super: Broly will flip between past and present, telling the tale of the last days of the Saiyan race, Bardock and Goku's origins and the fated battle that will result from it all. Everything about this sounds amazing, and we can't wait to see how Broly's character gets rebooted, since his original film appearances sort of went off the rails. Dragon Ball Super: Broly, has a lot of potential and we're more than excited to see how it all plays out, so here are 8 things we're excited for and 7 things we hope to see in the film!

15 EXCITED: BARDOCK

Though the "canon" of Dragon Ball doesn't quite matter at the end of the day, we can't say we aren't excited to see Bardock's official, definitive origin in Broly. The special starring the character is one of the more interesting entries in the franchise, and it's nice to see that he's getting his due.

We're excited to see how the film adapts elements of Bardock's TV special origin and his story in Dragon Ball Minus, since everything that plays out with him, Frieza, the Saiyans, and his sons is incredibly interesting. Seeing a streamlined version of Bardock definitely has us excited for the movie.

14 WANT TO SEE: ELEMENTS OF THE ORIGINAL

Broly was a character with a lot of potential, and the same could be said of the character's first film, which is probably why they're rebooting him. In doing so, we hope they keep some of the core elements about the character and his story that worked well with the original interpretation of him.

Mainly, we want to things like Broly's father controlling him, his origin and how it represents the corruption of Saiyan culture and society, as well as the pure fear that he evokes from the massive amount of power his has. Other bits should be reworked and removed to make for a more streamlined character and story, but we hope some of the cooler bits are kept in.

13 EXCITED: GINE

Anime Dragon Ball Super Movie Broly Bardock Gine

As excited as we are to see Bardock make his return to the franchise, we're even more excited to finally meet Goku's mother, Gine. Though Gine appeared in Dragon Ball Minus and one of the franchise's video games, she's yet to make an animated appearance, so we can't wait to see her and her story in Broly.

Gine, as well as her relationship with Bardock, were oddities among the Saiyan race; she was much more gentle-natured than the rest of her kind, and she and Bardock were one of the few couples that were together out of love. We excited to see how these aspects of her character are portrayed in the movie and we hope it will bring more depth to Goku's origins.

12 WANT TO SEE: GOGETA

Anime Dragon Ball Z Gogeta staring

This one might be a bit of a reach, but since Dragon Ball Super: Broly is bringing in some stuff from past Dragon Ball Z movies, we think it would be awesome to bring in one more movie character: Goku and Vegeta's fusion dance fusion, Gogeta.

Broly seems unstoppable in this movie, even more powerful than he was in his first incarnation, so maybe it will take something extreme to stop him, something like Goku and Vegeta fusing when they don't have the potara to help them. Of course, this is one is a bit of a pipe dream, but it would still be cool to see Gogeta make a "canon" appearance.

11 EXCITED: YOUNG VEGETA

Vegeta - DBZ

Like Goku, Vegeta's origins have never really had a proper depiction; both characters' youth only briefly being shown in TV specials and other supplemental stories. It's for this reason that we're very excited to see Vegeta's past and his relation to the events surrounding Broly, Bardock and the destruction of Planet Vegeta and the Saiyan race.

Most likely, these events will be taken from Dragon Ball Minus, so we have some idea of what will go down, but that doesn't diminish our excitement in the least, since Vegeta has had so much character development and it will be interesting to see how he started out as a young Saiyan warrior prince.

10 WANT TO SEE: BROLY SWITCHES SIDES

Broly releases a major punch in Dragon Ball Super: Broly

A big trope in the Dragon Ball franchise is villains becoming good guys; Vegeta did it, Piccolo did it, and Beerus did it. If this movie is going to rewrite things about the character, it might not be a stretch to think that Broly will become an ally by the end of the story.

Of course, we haven't seen any evidence to point towards this, but we hope there will be some redemption for the character, since he seems pretty bad from all that we've seen thus far. Goku's ability to forgive and befriend his enemies is something that we think would do great with Broly, since they both come from similar beginnings.

9 EXCITED: GOKU'S ORIGIN

As mentioned, we're excited to see more of Vegeta's younger days as a Saiyan conquerer, and we're just as excited to see a definitive version of Goku's time on planet Vegeta. Though this story might contradict what we know from Dragon Ball, specifically in terms of the age that Goku was when he arrived on Earth, but we're still excited to see Goku's interaction with his parents and their final farewell.

Goku doesn't have too much connection to his Saiyan heritage and his parents, so we are curious to see how scenes between him, Bardock and Gine play out, and we're sure the goodbye scene is going to get some fans tearing up.

8 WANT TO SEE: UNIVERSE 6 SAIYANS

When Kale, a Saiyan from Universe 6, first unlocked her Super Saiyan form, it looked strangely similar to Broly's legendary Super Saiyan form. We would come to learn that Kale is the same type of Super Saiyan as Broly, or at least something very close in power and psychological toll.

Since this film is going to be about Broly and his unique Super Saiyan form and power, we hope we might learn a little bit more about Kale as well as the other Universe 6 Saiyans, as more of their story, culture, and differences from Universe 7 Saiyans were teased during the last arc of Dragon Ball Super, and this upcoming film seems like a good opportunity to tease more lore.

7 EXCITED: SUPER SAIYAN GOD VEGETA

In Resurrection F and Dragon Ball Super, we learned that Vegeta had gained the Super Saiyan Blue form, a form that channels the power of a Super Saiyan god into the regular Super Saiyan form. However, we never saw Vegeta become a Super Saiyan God in the first place, but promo/design art for Dragon Ball Super: Broly shows that we're going to see the form in the upcoming movie.

Though the Dragon Ball Super manga showed Vegeta's Super Saiyan God already, it'll be awesome to see it in animated form, especially if Vegeta ends up using it against Broly, an epic fight that is sure to be one of the highlights of the film.

6 WANT TO SEE: TOURNAMENT OF POWER AFTERMATH

Goku and the Tournament of Power's Universe 7 team in Dragon Ball Super

Another piece of the Super TV series we hope to see in the film is the Tournament of Power. Well, not specifically the events of the Tournament of Power, just bits and pieces of the aftermath, which were not all that present at the end of Super.

We don't need anything crazy, just some signs that everything that occurred has affected the world in some way. There is some chance for this to happen, since Frieza plays a part in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and he was an ally in the Tournament, so perhaps we'll see him team up with his enemies once more.

5 EXCITED: ANIMATION & FIGHTS

Dragon Ball Super: Broly

Perhaps the most exciting thing about the initial trailer that was released was the stellar animation that Dragon Ball Super: Broly is going to have. A far cry from the stiff and low-budget animation of most of SuperBroly is fluid, full of life and has near flawless movement, giving fans the fantastic digital animation they've have wanted to see from Dragon Ball since digital coloring has become the norm.

And the best part about the upgraded animation? The fights are sure to be spectacular. Don't get us wrong, Super knew when to pull out all the stops and dish out some awesome fight animation, but with how great the basic movement of characters look in Broly, we're sure to see even better fight animations.

4 WANT TO SEE: SIGNS OF MORE TO COME

While we doubt that Dragon Ball Super: Broly will be the last piece of Dragon Ball media made, it's possible that there will be a long time between the film's release and a new Dragon Ball series. Either way, we hope that Broly leaves off with the promise of more adventures to come.

Maybe it will even steer the franchise in a new direction, opening up a whole new world for the characters and their stories. Specifically, we're thinking/hoping that Broly's history and Frieza's rebuilt army will set things up for a whole new saga involving the galactic tyrant, perhaps one where he uses Broly as a brainwashed weapon.

3 EXCITED: BROLY REVAMPED

Perhaps the best part about the upcoming Dragon Ball Super movie is that it's giving the character another chance, a new story that might redeem his previous films and their sub-par stories and character depth. Broly has a lot of potential as a character, so we are super excited that he's getting a reboot.

From what we've seen, the movie is keeping a fair amount of the parts of Broly's character and a story that worked and reworking some of the parts that didn't, adding in the drama of Goku and Vegeta's past in there was well. It seems like we're in for a well-crafted story involving a fan-favorite character and we couldn't be more excited.

2 WANT TO SEE: BROLY CHARACTER DEPTH

Since the character is getting a reboot, it's time to talk about what didn't work about the original incarnation of his story, and thus the things we hope the crew will improve upon in Dragon Ball Super: Broly. The big problem with Broly was that he had a great setup, but he just ended up being a Super Saiyan Hulk-like character with little depth.

Broly's backstory represented everything wrong about old Saiyan culture, but he had very little intelligence to add any necessary layers to his character, nothing to give him a strong motivation. This, amongst other little issues with the character, are things we hope Dragon Ball Super: Broly fixes about his story.

1 EXCITED: THE STORY OF THE SAIYANS

Frieza And King Cold mock the Saiyans in Dragon Ball Super Broly

Last but not least, we can't wait to see how the past story plays out in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, both because we want to learn more about young Goku and Vegeta, and because we're excited to see more of the Saiyans before their demise. We got to see a little in the Bardock TV special, but Broly seems to dive a bit more into Saiyan history, and we're all for it.

It seems that everything from their hierarchy, their society, and their relationship with Frieza and his empire will appear in the film, and we're sure it will be an epic saga full of interesting story points and awesome clashes. December can't come fast enough, because we can't wait to see Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
