Continuations of beloved anime series can often be a risky proposition, but Dragon Ball Super has turned out to be an extremely satisfying successor to Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball Z. The Dragon Ball franchise as a whole is known for its spectacular fights between overpowered individuals, and Dragon Ball Super is able to push this further than ever before with the addition of new universes of fighters and bold, new transformations.
Dragon Ball Super’s anime started before its corresponding manga, but the latter has gone on to continue the anime’s story far after the events of the Tournament of Power. If the Dragon Ball Super anime does return, there are already a number of fights from the manga series that fans can’t wait to see brought to life through animation.
10 Tien & Chiaotzu Versus Bikkura Quoitur Represents A Very Different Kind Of Battle
Moro’s attack on Earth allows many of the weaker supporting characters to return to the spotlight. Tien and Chiaotzu are a fascinating duo that hasn’t fought together for a while, yet their battle against Metalman Bikkura Quoitur comes down to more than strength. Tien and Chiaotzu struggle to leave any damage on Bikkura’s hard exterior.
The two remember from Vegeta’s battle against another Metalman that they’re highly sensitive to insults. This provides some unexpectedly comical results since Tien is too proper to insult Bikkura, and Chiaotzu has to rise to the occasion.
9 Vegeta’s Sparring With Beerus Helps Him Unlock The Powers Of Hakai
Beerus has become one of Dragon Ball Super’s most curious characters. He enters the series as a seismic threat, only to reveal himself as a guardian of sorts to this universe and a reluctant mentor to Goku and Vegeta. Goku finds himself aligning with Whis, and Vegeta spends more time with Beerus.
Vegeta’s training with Beerus pushes him further towards God of Destruction status and he even masters the Hakai ability. This may just be a fight between friends, but it’ll still be exciting to see in action, especially when Beerus bestows Vegeta with the special God of Destruction earring.
8 Androids 17 & 18 Fight Triumphantly As A Sibling Team Against Moro
Planter-eater Moro is a threat that’s as dangerous as his name indicates and a lot of his initial appearance involves every hero trying to hold him off before Goku and Vegeta can stop him. Androids 17 and 18 don’t last very long against Moro, and Vegeta’s arrival quickly takes them off the hook.
The fight may not amount to much, but it’s still a powerful moment between these two Android siblings. Whenever they get an opportunity to fight together it’s just incredible and perhaps the anime could even extend this fight and make it more balanced.
7 Goku’s Rigorous Training With Merus Pushes Him Past His Ultra Instinct Limit
Dragon Ball Super works hard to emphasize just how big of a threat Moro is and the collective efforts of the Galactic Patrol get involved in an attempt to prevent further calamity. Merus is the standout member of this prestigious police force, but the series teases that there’s much more to Merus.
Merus’ final battle alongside Goku against Moro is undeniably powerful, but Goku’s intense training with him to perfect his Ultra Instinct skills contains some amazing material. It’s crucial to see Goku reach this point and not just suddenly be able to use Perfected Ultra Instinct later on.
6 Buu’s Showdown With Moro Allows An Underused Powerhouse To Shine
Buu is a character that Dragon Ball Super repeatedly teases to return in an important way, but never follows through with it. Moro has history with the Grand Supreme Kai, who was absorbed by Buu back during his original galactic tirade. It’s determined that Grand Supreme Kai is essential to defeating Moro, so Buu undergoes hypnosis to pull Grand Supreme Kai to the surface.
What follows is a thrilling battle that takes place in space. Buu ultimately isn’t enough to take out Moro, but it’s still one of the character’s better moments and fights.
5 Gohan & Piccolo Versus Seven-Three Is Some Of The Duo’s Best Work
Gohan and Piccolo have always been one of Dragon Ball’s most enjoyable teams, and Super finds some great opportunities for them to come together. Seven-Three is a particularly dangerous ally of Moro who is able to absorb individuals’ abilities for a limited time period and rotate through them.
Gohan faces Seven-Three after he’s acquired Piccolo’s abilities. It makes for a very interesting fight to see Gohan and Piccolo contend with Seven-Three’s use of Namekian staples, like limb elongation and growing to giant size. Seven-Three’s energy absorption continues to stump Gohan, but their battle gets interrupted before there’s a victor.
4 Krillin & Master Roshi Go Out Swinging Against Fused Fighter Miwakaza
Krillin and Master Roshi’s quick defeat by Miwakaza may not be their strongest moment, but there’s still a lot to appreciate in this battle. To begin with, Master Roshi dips into the principles of Ultra Instinct and operates with such Zen-like fluidity that Miza, Iwaza, and Kizaza are hopeless against him.
It’s at this point that the three of them fuse into Miwakaza, who is able to dominate against both Roshi and Krillin. Miwakaza has the unfair advantage and Goku quickly saves the day with a single blow, but there are many interesting elements to this encounter before it’s over.
3 Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku Versus Granolah Marks A New Milestone For The Saiyan
Granolah remains the current threat in Dragon Ball Super’s manga and it’s unclear how this villain will be defeated, and by whom. Already, both Goku and Vegeta have thrown a lot at this Dragon Ball-powered Cerelian. It may not be enough to win, but it’s still really exciting that Goku has reached a point where he can rush at Granolah with Perfected Ultra Instinct on display.
This will make for such a fun battle, but also just underscore Goku’s continued growth. What was once so impossible is not just another one of Goku’s tricks.
2 Vegeta’s Ultra Ego Assault Against Granolah Will Make For One Of The Anime’s Best Episodes
Dragon Ball has gotten endless mileage out of the competitive rivalry that exists between Goku and Vegeta. For the bulk of the series, there’s just been one set path of power to follow that inevitably means that one needs to be further ahead than the other.
Dragon Ball Super breaks this tradition and introduces Ultra Ego as Vegeta’s alternative transformation to Goku’s Ultra Instinct. Vegeta unveils this power boost against Granolah. It remains to be seen if it will defeat Granolah, but it’s been fascinating to watch unfold and the side of Vegeta that it brings forward.
1 Goku & Vegeta Versus Earth Absorbed Moro Portrays Both Of The Saiyans At Their Strongest
Moro gets introduced as a powerful threat, but he’s one of those enemies who just keeps growing stronger and it reaches a point where it feels like he’ll never be fully gone. Moro’s power-consuming ways go so far that his final form results in him essentially merging with the planet and attacking Goku that way.
Goku wields an incredible Autonomous Ultra Instinct avatar against this exaggerated version of Moro. That alone will be incredible to watch, but Vegeta lending his strength to provide a helpful power boost makes it even more special.
