Fusions are a staple of Dragon Ball, having caught on especially in Dragon Ball Z. Some types of Fusion, like the Potara and Metamoran ones, combine two fighters into a brand new being like Gotenks and Vegito, while others like Namekian Fusion (a.k.a. "Assimilation") involve one fighter absorbing another to receive their knowledge and power.

Given how popular fusion became, it’s unsurprising that the Dragon Ball Super anime would introduce a few fusions of its own, as well as bring back some fan favorites. The series even introduced brand new ways to fuse, although many of them were exclusive to certain characters.

11 Gotenks Was Added To The Super Arcs Based On The Last Two Z Movies & Fought Duplicate Vegeta

Dragon Ball Gotenks Pose

Gotenks appeared briefly in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, but was sadly absent from Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F.’ Thankfully, Dragon Ball Super decided both stories needed a little more of the self-stylized Hero of Justice.

The series first extended Gotenks’ screen time when adapting Battle of Gods, having him land several useless punches against Beerus, who then vented to him extensively about not being able to eat any pudding. Later, in Super’s Resurrection ‘F’ adaptation, Gotenks humiliated Tagoma in battle but unfused right before fighting Frieza. Gotenks’ final Super appearance was on Planet Potaufeu, where he helped fight a goopy duplicate of Vegeta.

10 The Zamasu From Trunks’ Timeline Merged Into “Fused Zamasu” With Goku Black

Fused Zamasu in Dragon Ball Super

Goku Black and Future Zamasu were both extremely powerful when separate, but reached a completely different realm of strength when they fused with the Potara. Even worse, the Potara fusion was permanent since Zamasu was a Supreme Kai.

Or so it appeared. Because Future Zamasu had wished for immortality while Goku Black hadn’t, their body began to deform as a result of the paradox. Though still extremely powerful, Fused Zamasu had become more vulnerable, allowing Goku and Vegeta the chance to weaken him as Vegito. Future Trunks then destroyed Zamasu’s physical form by absorbing a Spirit Bomb into both his body and his improvised energy sword.

9 Goku & Vegeta Became Vegito Again To Fight Fused Zamasu

To face Fused Zamasu, Goku suggested he and Vegeta once again use Potara earrings to become Vegito, as they had against Super Buu. Vegeta, however, was extremely reluctant, especially as he and Goku still believed Potara fusions were permanent. Gowasu, however, quickly revealed otherwise, explaining Potara fusions were only permanent for Kai, but only would last one hour if the two beings fusing were mortals.

Vegito was thus reborn, far more powerful than when he’d last appeared. Yet his increased strength actually worked against him, as fighting at full power shortened his time limit, causing the fusion to wear off prematurely.

8 Saonel & Pilina Fused With Several Nameks To Give Them Strength For The Tournament Of Power

Anime Dragon Ball Super Saonel Pirina Universe 6 Namekians

Before Dragon Ball Super, every Namekian Fusion seen on-screen involved Piccolo absorbing another Namekian fighter. The Tournament of Power, however, introduced Saonel and Pilina, two Namekian warriors from Universe 6 who had assimilated several members of their species to boost their strength. Saonel and Pilina had initially held back to converse their strength and adapt to their new power, but cut loose when they became Universe 6’s only remaining fighters. Though formidable challengers, they were ultimately defeated by a combined Kamehameha and Special Beam Cannon from Gohan and Piccolo respectively, along with apparent help from Piccolo’s own fusion partners, Nail and Kami.

7 Universe 6’s Kale & Caulifla Combined Into The Superwarrior Kefla

Kefla radiating energy

Kale and Caulifla were already incredibly strong as individual fighters, particularly Kale, with her Legendary Super Saiyan forms. However, Super Saiyan God Goku was able to fight them both at once without too much difficulty, despite still recovering from his first fight with Jiren.

To even the odds, Caulifla and Kale used Potara earrings to become Kefla, a fighter with Caulifla’s build and strength well beyond even Kale’s -- not to mention Gotenks’ confidence. As Goku was still regaining stamina, he wasn’t able to fight Kefla for long with Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken, but he luckily managed to reawaken Ultra Instinct Sign and ensured himself a victory.

6 Universe 3’s Borareta, Pancéa, & Koitsukai Merged Into The Super-Robot Koicéareta

Koicéareta in Dragon Ball Super

They may not have used Potara or the Fusion Dance, but the mechanical warriors of the Tournament of Power’s Team Universe 3 had “fusions” all their own. The first to appear was Koicéareta, a combination consisting of Koitsukai as the head and arms, Pancéa as the upper torso, and Borareta as the lower torso and legs. The three surprised Team Universe 7 with their increases in strength and speed and actually managed to repel Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta’s respective Kamehameha and Galick Gun (though the Saiyans were likely holding back). Koicéareta even briefly resisted Gohan’s full-power Kamehameha before eventually being overwhelmed.

5 Dr. Paparoni Became One With Koicéareta, Transforming Into Agnilasa

Agnilasa furious in Dragon Ball Super

Gohan’s Kamehameha blast hit both Koicéareta and Dr. Paparoni, but eliminated neither. Instead, a cackling Paparoni joined with Koicéareta to become the monstrous Agnilasa. Other than adapting Paparoni’s skin hue and clothing color scheme, Agnilasa resembled neither Paparoni nor Koicéareta and was far more humanoid than the latter. He was powered by a red energy reactor on his forehead and used green sensors on his “ears” to track his opponents. He could also sprout wings from his back for flight.

Enormously powerful and quick, Agnilasa lost only when Team Universe 7 combined energy attacks, while Android 17 destroyed Agnilasa’s reactor.

4 Gogeta Made His Canonical Debut In Dragon Ball Super: Broly

gogeta raging

Fusion Reborn was unique among the original Dragon Ball Z movies in that introduced a fusion that never appeared on the show or in the manga: the mighty Gogeta. By performing the Fusion Dance, Goku and Vegeta transformed into a powerful warrior who defeated the movie’s main villain, Janemba, with ease.

Gogeta finally became canon in Dragon Ball Super: Broly after Goku and Piccolo taught Vegeta the Fusion Dance. Gogeta behaved noticeably different in the Broly movie than in Fusion Reborn, acting less stern and more like Goku. He was also, of course, much stronger, capable of turning Super Saiyan Blue and shattering through dimensions.

3 Several Namekian Warriors Fused To Fight Moro But Were Killed In A Single Attack

Fused Namekian Warrior charging at Moro manga

Goku and Vegeta’s first battle against Moro ended in failure, thanks to the wizard’s energy-absorbing abilities. While the two recovered on New Namek, Moro began collecting the planet’s Dragon Balls, aided by ex-Frieza Force member Cranberry. Meanwhile, all the warriors of New Namek took matters into their own hands by fusing into a single being. Despite being enormously powerful, the resulting fusion was still no match for Moro, who thrust his arm into the merged warrior’s abdomen without even looking at him, killing the Namekian superwarrior (and every Namekian who had fused into him) instantly. Thankfully, they were later revived.

2 Moro Fused With The Artificial Being Seven-Three By Eating Him Alive

Transformed Moro (after eating Seven-Three)

Thanks to his time on Yardrat, Vegeta had finally learned a technique that could counter Moro’s energy absorption. With every hit, Vegeta drained Moro of the life energy he had stolen from various worlds.

Yet Moro had a failsafe waiting for him in the alien android Seven-Three, whom he had copy his magic and fighting abilities before the fight. Moro ate Seven-Three’s body, restoring and increasing his power. He also gained Seven-Three’s ability to copy other fighters’ full range of techniques. The “fusion” removed the 30-minute time limit for Seven-Three’s Copy power and made Moro appear less goat-like and more humanoid.

1 Moro Fused With An Entire Planet

Manga Dragon Ball Super Planet Moro Fights Goku

When Moro found himself unable to contain the godly power he acquired from copying Merus, he expanded his body’s size to compensate by merging with planet Earth. Yet that only turned the Earth into a time bomb of godly energy that threatened to destroy the entire galaxy. Worse still, Moro began absorbing life from Earth and its inhabitants, making his chances of detonating even larger. Thankfully, Vegeta again used Forced Spirit Fission to remove Moro’s energy and repower Goku, who freed Merus’ energy by destroying the forehead crystal Moro (and previously Seven-Three) used to copy others’ power and techniques.
