The Dragon Ball franchise is bursting with alien characters packing powers that would make anyone quiver in their boots. Gods of Destruction, magical Angels and extraterrestrial monkey men abound -- and yet the strongest of all is a human child. Beat, the player character in the Dragon Ball Heroes games, has proven that his power is limitless, possibly making him the most powerful Saiyan to ever grace the series.

Dragon Ball Heroes is a a turn-based, deck building arcade game released in 2010. Players create teams using the cards and do battle with the franchise's storied characters. Exclusive to the game are the new “hero avatars,” eight characters that a player can choose from to represent themselves. One these characters is Beat, a human boy obsessed with playing Dragon Ball Heroes. In his world, Heroes is a popular arcade game created by the Capsule Corporation that uses powerful fighters from history as Yu-Gi-Oh! cards in simulated battles.

Created to be the face of Dragon Ball Heroes' promotional campaign, Beat appears alongside his avatar peers in commercials and manga, often showcasing epic transformations that are usually exclusive to heroes like Goku and Vegeta. The catch being that Beat really only becomes the most powerful being in the Dragon Ball universe when playing the game. In his world, Beat is just a teenager who wants nothing more than to play Dragon Ball Heroes all day. But, using a “hero license” at his local arcade, Beat is sucked in to Capsule Corp's arcade game and becomes an impossibly strong warrior. In the follow up, Super Dragon Ball Heroes, Beat uses a so-called Hero Switch bracelet given to him by Super Saiyaman 3 instead.

Like in the film Last Action Hero, the bad guys aren't satisfied with staying in their own universe. When the series' wicked villains discover a way to escape into the real world, Beat is recruited by Earth's mightiest to stop them alongside series regulars Future Trunks, Goku and Vegeta, to name a few.

As new versions of Dragon Ball Heroes have been released over the years - including 2019's Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission for the Nintendo Switch - Beat's power has grown. His first appearance in the initial commercial for Heroes sees him entering the game and teaming up with Future Trunks and Super Saiyan Goku to defeat Cell. Over the course of the decade-old game's somewhat convoluted storytelling and lore, Beat demonstrates a number of powers that, if Heroes were at all canon, would make his powers limitless. And, for as long as Heroes needs promotional material, his strength will only grow.

Keeping in mind that he's an Earthling playing what is essentially a hacked version of the game, Beat has access to every Saiyan transformation seen so far - from Super Saiyan to Ultra Instinct. Even in the “real” world, where Beat and his friends play the Capsule Corporation arcade game at Satan Mall, Beat demonstrates the unconscious ability to channel ki energy. Given his abilities within the game itself, Beat has no upper limit.

Beat is a kid with a passion for Dragon Ball Heroes, which makes him the perfect representation for the series' passionate fans. He can do anything a Saiyan can do and, by proxy, so too can his real-world counterparts in the arcade or at home on the Nintendo Switch. In that way, he will always be the most powerful Saiyan in the Dragon Ball universe, at least when marketing deems it necessary.
