Vegeta may not be able to catch a break in the Dragon Ball Super manga, but fans will at least be able to give the Saiyan prince a few victories with his new Giant Ape Form in Dragon Ball Legends.

The new Giant Ape Form is just one aspect of Legends' latest new character, Legends Limited Vegeta. True to his attitude in the anime and manga, this version of Vegeta is a durable brawler who is suitable for long fights; the Saiyan can recover his own health after enemy combos, and will inflict a Ki penalty on foes who manage to dodge his attacks. Vegeta will also receive permanent buffs at the start of a battle, or when he is switched to standby. The new version of Vegeta was unveiled in a news video posted to one of Bandai Namco's official YouTube channels. The video also details several other changes coming to the popular mobile game as well.

Dragon Ball Legends is a team-based action-RPG that was originally released by Bandai Namco in 2018 for Android and iOS devices. The game tells the story of Shallot, a Saiyan who wakes up with no memories of his past and is forced to participate in the Tournament of Time. Shallot is a brand new original character designed by Dragon Ball's creator, Akira Toriyama. In addition to Shallot and other new characters created for this game, players can fill out their team with different versions of Dragon Ball's most famous fighters, including Goku, Gohan and Kale. Legends features a full story mode as well as competitive, PVP multiplayer.

Akira Toriyama first published Dragon Ball in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump in 1984. Since then, Dragon Ball has become the third best-selling manga series of all time, surpassed only by Eiichiro Oda's One Piece and Takao Saito's Golgo 13. After airing in syndication on various channels throughout North America during the early '90s, the Dragon Ball Z anime achieved mainstream success when it was featured on Cartoon Network's Toonami block during the late '90s and early '00s. The series is credited with helping to introduce anime and manga to mainstream audiences outside of Japan, and with over $27.9 billion USD in revenue, it is now one of the most profitable multi-media franchises of all time, ranking just below DC's Batman and Marvel's Spider-Man.

The next movie in the franchise, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was unveiled at the 2021 San Diego Comic-Con, and will feature a new art style that blends 2D and 3D CG animation.
