There are many new and exciting shonen anime series to come out over the years, but Dragon Ball is still a series that’s on the top of people’s list and it’s never disappeared from the public consciousness. Dragon Ball GT remains a controversial chapter from the series, but it still contains some memorable moments and it’s not afraid to push many of the characters to unexpected places.

Uub is a character that shows up in the final chapters of Dragon Ball Z, gets to lend a hand in Dragon Ball GT, and although he’s vitally connected to Buu, he still remains a mystery to many.

10 Majuub Is The Fusion Between Uub And Good Buu

Anime Dragon Ball GT Majuub Fusion Impressed

In Dragon Ball GT, the threat of Baby Vegeta becomes so intense that some other characters need to step up and show what they can do. Good Buu and Uub fuse together, which turns Uub into Majuub, also known as Super Uub in a number of situations.

Majuub is more muscular and adopts Buu's clothing, but basically still looks like Uub. The fusion remains permanent and beyond the major boost in power this upgraded version of Uub has all of Buu's abilities, minus the transformative nature of his body.

9 He Can Ride The Flying Nimbus

Uub and Kid Goku Riding Clouds

The Flying Nimbus is a fascinating tool in Goku's arsenal because only those that are truly pure of heart can ride it, which means it's not just something that can be stolen and used.

Curiously, in the Kanzenban re-issue manga, Toriyama slightly changes the iconic final image of the series where Uub is now riding the Flying Nimbus, drawing even more parallels between him and Goku. Uub is supposed to be a reincarnation that consists of pure good, but to get a confirmation like this is nice.

8 He Fights Under A Costumed Alias

Anime Dragon Ball Z Uub Papayaman Costume Tournament

The Dragon Ball universe has some depth to it in the respect that some characters relish their power and notoriety while others shy away from it and don a costume. During Uub's participation in the 31st World Martial Arts Tournament he disguises himself as a character called Papayaman that reflects his native village and exhibits a flair for presentation. It’s a modest attempt to hide his identity and it’s a style that the Great Saiyaman would definitely love. However, it doesn’t fool Goku for very long.

7 He Has His Own Twist On The Kamehameha

Anime Dragon Ball GT Uub Super Kamehameha

Not only is Uub inherently powerful due to how he's the reincarnation of Kid Buu, he also experiences the rare benefit of Goku taking him on as his pupil. This means that his strength can get refined by the noteworthy hero, but he also gets to learn some of Goku's signature moves, like the Kamehameha. When Uub fights against Baby Vegeta he unveils and upgraded version he called the Super Kamehameha, but later on Majuub releases a Chocolate Kamehameha, which combines Uub signature attack with Goku's. It's not just a powerful energy attack, but it will also transform the opponent.

6 He's The Strongest Human On Earth

Uub powers up in the World Martial Arts Tournament in Dragon Ball Z.

The longer that Dragon Ball Z has gone on, the more fundamental Saiyans have become and it's been disappointing to watch humans slowly get phased out. So despite the strength of humans like Tien, Krillin, or Master Roshi, Uub is the strongest human of all and still has time to grow. Uub is supposed to be the strength of Kid Buu, who held his own against Super Saiyan 3 Goku, which no human could do. In Dragon Ball GT he lasts against Super Baby Vegeta, which is also something only Super Saiyan 4 Goku could handle.

5 He’s The Good Reincarnation Of Kid Buu

After Goku defeats Kid Buu, the greatest threat that the Earth has seen, it appears that the planet is safe and there are no instances of new extremely powerful forces that come to the planet. Goku becomes concerned when he senses this exact kind of thing, only to encounter Uub for the first time. It’s through this that Goku learns that Uub is actually the reincarnation of Kid Buu after he died, but a being of pure good rather than evil. Uub is oblivious to this, but it sets him on a noble journey.

4 He Learns Abilities As He Fights

Anime Dragon Ball Z Uub Fights Goku

The World Martial Arts Tournament that occurs towards the end of Dragon Ball Z is the first time that anyone gets to witness Uub's strength and fighting style. Vegeta quickly notices that Uub is able to adapt at a remarkable rate and can master his opponent's techniques just from watching them. Buu is able to do the same thing, not just with fighting styles, but also energy abilities like the Kamehameha. It's interesting to learn that this trait in particular has carried over into Uub.

3 He Fights To Support His Village

Anime Dragon Ball Z Uub Excited Tournament

Uub is a character who's very important in theory, but he's someone that never gets too much attention or motivation. Dragon Ball GT provides the perfect opportunity to flesh Uub out further, but he stays in the background and doesn’t get to join Goku’s party. One piece of backstory that he does receive is that in his first appearance it's revealed that Uub comes from a poor village. The only reason he's in the World Martial Arts Tournament is so he can use the prize money to buy his people food. He's a character who's grown through adversity.

2 He Eventually Has An Extra Consciousness Resting Inside Of Him

After Uub and Good Bu fuse together into Majuub, Buu’s consciousness still remains inside of Uub, independently of his own. Buu can communicate and give advice to Uub, but he can also control him in extreme situations. That’s not how other fusions have worked and it’s more like Buu is trapped in there and has a say in what happens. This level of shared sentience could mean that Good Buu can separate from Uub at some point, he just doesn’t know how. It’s the sort of thing that Vegeta’s new Spirit Fission would handle, but that’s far from likely.

1 He Can Transform His Opponent Into Food Or Objects

Anime Dragon Ball GT Uub Transfiguration Beam

One of Majin Buu's most terrifying abilities is his transfiguration beam, which allows him to transform his opponent into whatever he wants. It’s a wild ability that reflects the insane personality that drives Buu, especially when most of these transformations turn people into food that he can consume. Majuub also obtains this ability and while he's much more moral and restrained than Buu, it's not something that he abuses in the same way. That being said, he does turn someone into chocolate, so he's not beyond using it when it's necessary.
