During Dragon Ball Super Chapter 72, Goku opted to face off against Granolah first. However, the Saiyan soon discovered that the last of the Cerealians wasn't a fighter to be trifled with, as Granolah proved more than capable of standing toe-to-toe with his opponent. Their fight comes to an end in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 73 -- and it's certainly a shocking finish.

With the former using the combined powers of Super Saiyan Blue and Ultra Instinct, Goku finds himself evenly matched with Granolah. After initially sparring, Granolah notes that he's having trouble finding one of Goku's vital points due to the Saiyan's transformations. This neutralizes Granolah's ability to target the Saiyan's vital points -- though the Cerealian remains confident he'll find one soon. The two then start fighting again, and Granola eventually gets the upper hand.

Granolah nearly defeats Goku once and for all with a powerful ki blast, but he's able to evade. This action ends up leading him to Vegeta, who reveals the truth about Granolah's origins, explaining that the Cerealians were wiped out by the Saiyans and Freeza. Knowing the truth about Granolah's past, Goku and Vegeta agree that they'll need to beat the Cerealian before he'll actually listen to reason.

In response, Goku activates Perfect Ultra Instinct. Initially, the Saiyan proves dominant in his battle against Granolah, but Vegeta soon observes that the Cerealian's energy level isn't going down. This causes him to investigate, and he discovers that the Granolah against whom Goku has been fighting is actually a clone. The real Granolah has been saving his strength, since he didn't want to expend too much energy before taking on Freeza.

Before Vegeta can warn Goku about the truth, though, Granolah teleports and deals a quick blow to one of Goku's vital points, sending the Saiyan flying across the planet and knocking him out. Granolah then advances on his downed opponent, but before he can deal the finishing blow, Vegeta steps up and prepares to prove himself mightier than his old rival. So while Goku has gone down, Granolah will be facing Vegeta -- a trainee God of Destruction -- in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 74.

While Granolah wasn't able to keep pace with Perfected Ultra Instinct, his ability to target vital points gave him an edge against Goku, proving he's one of the most formidable opponents that the Z-Fighters have ever faced. And Goku has, for his part, suffered his first defeat in the battle against Granolah. That being said, Goku isn't one to quit easily, and each time the Saiyan goes down, he's risen to brand new heights. Plus, Goku and Vegeta do have one remaining Senzu Bean.

Dragon Ball Super Chapter 74 will release on July 20 through Viz Media.
