Dragon Ball Super's Goku is set to soar over the streets of New York as a balloon in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
As Funimation announced earlier today, Goku will make his inflatable debut in the 92nd annual parade on Nov. 22. Modeled after Goku's appearance in Dragon Ball Super, the balloon depicts Goku in his Super Saiyan Blue form with his trademark orange uniform and a sky-scraping mound of spiky blue hair.
While Funimation has only released renderings of the model for the balloon, Goku is shaping up to be one of the parade's biggest attractions. Created in collaboration by Toei Animation and Macy's Studio designers, the Goku balloon will measure a whopping 70 feet long, 56 feet tall and 36 feet wide. It's only six feet shorter than the parade's longest balloon, the Red Power Ranger.
While the parade has featured balloons of American superheroes like Spider-Man and Japanese characters like Pikachu, Goku will be the parade's first character who originally debuted in manga. Since he was created by Akira Toriyama in 1984's Dragon Ball, Goku has become an international icon through his action-packed comic adventures and anime like Dragon Ball Z.
The parade won't be Goku's only larger-than-life appearance in the near future either. While new episodes of Dragon Ball Super's English dub are still premiering, the Super Saiyan will also star in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, the 20th theatrically-released movie in the Dragon Ball franchise.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will begin on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22,at 9 am EST. Dragon Ball Super is currently airing on Cartoon Network, and Dragon Ball Super: Broly is set to hit U.S. theaters on Jan. 16, 2019.
