Ever since Akira Toriyama introduced the concept of fusion in the Dragon Ball manga, fans have fantasized over what sort of combinations could be made from their favorite fighters. While recent games like Dragon Ball Fusions and Dragon Ball Heroes have given fusion plenty of attention, there is still plenty of territory left to explore.RELATED: Dragon Ball’s 10 Most Epic Fusions Of All Time, RankedNot content to let a great idea for a fusion go unseen, some fans have gone the extra mile and brought to life their own visions of merged characters. Some of these fan art fusions, in fact, left such an impact, that they actually made it into official Dragon Ball material.

10 Yamshinhan, by Blood-Splach

Original image from Blood-Splach’s DeviantArt page

Make no mistake: this is no EX Yamhan or Tiencha. Unlike those two fused beings, Yamshinhan is a Potara fusion, and Blood-Splach takes care to give the design the majesty a god-derived fusion deserves. Yamshinhan’s clothes combine Yamcha’s classic gi with the caped look Tien sported in the Buu Saga, and while he does have Tien’s third eye, the hairstyle and scar are clearly Yamcha’s. Whether the smirk is Yamcha’s or Tien’s on a particularly good day is hard to say, but Yamshinhan certainly looks like he has the confidence to take on whatever—or whoever—gets in his way.

9 Jiren + Freezer, by Greytonano

Even with the fate of his universe on the line, Frieza (called “Freezer” in certain dubs) wasn’t afraid of forming temporary alliances with opponents during the Tournament of Power to serve his purposes. In Greytonano’s piece, Frieza has landed the ultimate ally, using Potara earrings to fuse with the man who was most powerful fighter for most of the Tournament. While Jiren likely would have never merged with a person as morally empty as Frieza, this sleek, terrifying design still begs the question, “What If?" Moreover, if the tournament came down to Universe 7 and 11 as it did originally, which side would this fusion be on?

8 Gohanks, by Kentarō Yabuki

This very special entry first appeared in 1995’s Weekly Shōnen Jump No. 13 as the “Cool Prize” winner of the magazine’s Fusion Contest. A fusion of the teenaged versions of Gohan and Trunks, Gohanks would be adapted into three different versions of the fusion for numerous video and mobile games. The “Xeno” version of Gohanks was even animated for the sixth animated introduction for Super Dragon Ball Heroes, and included in the manga Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Dark Demon Realm Mission.

Gohanks’ creator, Kentarō Yabuki, must be quite proud, especially considering he was 15 years old when he designed the fusion!

7 Piccolunga, by Mangomics

Original image by Mangomics

Fans of Dragon Ball Z are well aware that Namekians have their own form of fusion. Yet could they somehow merge with one of their wish-granting dragons? As far as Mangomics is concerned, the answer is a resounding yes, and the result is a fusion that looks recognizably like Piccolo, but with the horns and glowing red eyes of the Namekian dragon Porunga. Piccolunga is part of the Dragon Ball Z Heroes/X-Men Parallel World fan crossover, which combines several Dragon Ball Z and X-Men characters, but is among the few fusions to not include an X-Character.

6 Bran SSJ4, by Metamine10

Original image from Metamine10’s DeviantArt page

Pan and Bulla (called “Bra” in certain translations, including that of Viz’s Dragon Ball Z) were never shown as late teens or young adults in any of the Dragon Ball shows, including Dragon Ball GT. Metamine10 explores that gap in Dragon Ball history to show what might happened if Bulla had taken up training as well and learned the Metamoran Fusion Dance. Interestingly, rather than give Super Saiyan 4 Bran the red hair of Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, the artist has instead decided to experiment by making both Bran’s hair color and aura purple. Combined with her red eyes and piercing stare, the color change proves to be a resounding success, depicting a Bran who looks like she’s won before the battle’s even begun.

5 Broku, by Maniaxoi

A Goku and Broly fusion already exists, namely Karoly from Dragon Ball Fusions and Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle, but that fusion is of Goku with the original version of Broly. Maniaxoi, instead, combines Goku with the Broly from the 2018 Dragon Ball Super film. The result is a fusion who greatly resembles Broly—even the vest padding is green, rather than the familiar orange or yellow—yet has Goku’s more easygoing expression and a looser version of his hairstyle. Broku would make for a powerful hero… but would even the Goku side of his persona be able to keep Broly’s rage in check?

4 Gokugory, by Shin’ichi Akitsuki

This fusion and Gohanks have a lot in common, as they were both designed by 15-year-olds (Shin’ichi Akitsuki, in Gokugory’s case) and winners of the same Weekly Shōnen Jump Fusion Contest in 1995. Despite winning the “Super-Nostalgic Prize,” however, Gokugory has never made it into any Dragon Ball video games thus far the way Gohanks has… though it may just be a matter of time.

At any rate, the design is still fantastic, not only combining Goku and Gregory’s physiques in a way that doesn’t look jarring, but even adding a tail resembling that of Frieza’s early stages for good measure. Had Goku discovered fusion earlier in Dragon Ball Z, combining with Gregory would have probably given him a tremendous speed boost.

3 Spider 18, by ChigoSenpai

As an Android, 18 can do many things most humans can’t. Thanks to this fusion by ChigoSenpai, however, she now can do whatever a spider can! It’s not too surprising that 18 would look so natural in the Ghost Spider costume, given the physical similarities between her and Gwen Stacy. While having Ghost Spider’s abilities may not give Android 18 too much of a strength boost, it at least gives her access to a unique power set. Who knows: perhaps one day when she’s bored of flying, she’ll decide to give web-swinging through a city a try.

2 Majin Baby Omega Janemyabuu, by DBZ2010

Original image from DBZ2010's DeviantArt page

The name only tells part of the story. Not only does this fusion combine Baby Hatchiyak from Dragon Ball Heroes with Cell, Omega Shenron, Buu, Frieza, Cooler, Bojack and Janemba, but it also adds Babidi’s Majin possession to the mix, as seen by the M on the character’s forehead. The creation could almost be viewed as Dragon World version of Combo Man, a promotional character made by Marvel and Combos Bakes Snacks who combined the look of 14 Marvel characters. While Combo Man was made up of heroes, however, this Dragon Ball fusion is solely made out of villains… perhaps, as another piece of DBZ2010’s suggests, with enough power to make even the likes of Beerus tremble.

1 Android 35, by Ian Fay

Dragon Ball Fusions gave the world an EX Fusion for the two sibling Androids, but Ian Fay goes the Potara route to give fans something new. Android 35 wears 17’s and 18’s clothes from the Tournament of Power, namely 18’s tracksuit jacket and 17’s jeans and “Mir” shirt. What truly stands out, however, is 35’s hairstyle, which keeps the siblings’ respective hair colors split in a way that’s bound to inspire more than a few future hairstyles. Had the two actually fused during the ToP, it would have been interesting to see how they fared against the tournament’s other major Potara fighter, Kefla.
