Dragon Ball is one of the biggest shonen franchises of all time. The legacy this franchise has managed to establish is so immense that its latest iteration, Dragon Ball Super — a continuation of the series that ended two decades prior — somehow managed to stay relevant with its incredible staying power. Fans were salivating for some much-needed new material in the world of Dragon Ball, and they received exactly that in the form of Dragon Ball Super.

However, two decades is an incredibly long wait, and fans aren't exactly known for being patient. So, during this hiatus, some talented artists decided to take matters into their own hands and create their own transformations, inspired by the official canon. Some of these forms are incredible to look at, to the point where it's almost a crime that these brilliant fan-made transformations aren't part of the actual story. Keeping this in mind, here are 10 such transformations that should've been part of the official story.

10 Super Saiyan 100

The concept of a Super Saiyan 100 is completely ludicrous, but the main reason why this form has made this list is because of one particular aspect that makes it shine amongst the litany of fan-made transformations — the design.

Of course, the story behind this form is also quite a tale to tell. After obtaining the Super Saiyan 10 form — which is a different tale altogether — Goku trains in this form for 5 continuous years in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to unlock a transformation so powerful that the number 11 doesn't do it justice.

Now that's how you establish how powerful a transformation is in the Dragon Ball universe.

9 Super Saiyan Rosé 2

The introduction of the Perfect Super Saiyan Blue form for Vegeta was a much-needed breath of fresh air, allowing for the Prince Of All Saiyans to finally step into the spotlight — a space generally reserved for Goku.

Super Saiyan Rosé 2 basically takes this concept and adapts it for the Rosé transformation. It would've been amazing to see Goku Black ascend to this form, but Future Zamasu was also great in its own right.

8 Super Saiyan God 2

It seems that Super Saiyan 2 is a fan-favorite, given the fact that most artists have drawn various iterations of existing forms using this base design.

Super Saiyan God 2 is admittedly a neat concept but pales in comparison to the power boost of Super Saiyan Blue. Perhaps this form would've been a better way to enhance the longevity of Super Saiyan God before it got shelved for its ascended counterpart.

7 Super Saiyan God Ascended Super Saiyan 3 A.K.A Super Saiyan Blue 3

Speaking of Super Saiyan Blue, it must be said that fans went completely off the rails when it came to designing new forms that used this new transformation as a base.

The most notable instance of this is the ascension of Super Saiyan Blue past its contemporary roots and into the realm of Super Saiyan 3. By all accounts, Super Saiyan Blue 3 looks just like the patented Super Saiyan 3 transformation except for — you guessed it — the blue hair.

6 Legendary Super Saiyan 3

Dragon Ball Broly Legendary

It's time to finally delve into the legacy of Dragon Ball AF — a fan-made manga that enjoyed immense popularity. This manga was drawn by Toyotaro, a devout fan of Dragon Ball who ended up working on the Dragon Ball Super manga — an inspiring tale if there ever was one.

Dragon Ball AF has its own share of incredible sagas, with a notable one being the reintroduction of Broly. In this arc, Broly reaches several new Super Saiyan forms that are augmented by his Legendary status.

Obviously enough, Legendary Super Saiyan 3 is one of them.

5 Super Saiyan God Ascended Super Saiyan 4 A.K.A Super Saiyan Blue 4

It's time to delve into the transformation GT popularized and its consequent imitators.

While Dragon Ball GT might be one of the most polarizing entries in the Dragon Ball canon, one thing it definitely did right was sketching an incredible design for Super Saiyan 4, which fans still adore to this very day.

After all, if that wasn't the case, then fans wouldn't take this design and meld it with the Super Saiyan Blue transformation. The end result is something truly special.

4 Legendary Super Saiyan 4

Of course, the Super Saiyan 4 imitators don't stop there. While there are several other excellent iterations of Super Saiyan 4 created by extremely talented fans, it would be remiss to not mention Broly's transformation from Dragon Ball AF.

His Legendary Super Saiyan 3 transformation has already been discussed, and this succeeding transformation ends up causing no end of problems to the Z Fighters.

There's a higher version of Broly's Legendary Super Saiyan transformation... but it would be better to not spoil this surprise, however obvious it might be.

3 Super Saiyan 6

While the Super Saiyan 6 transformation isn't really utilized all that much in Dragon Ball AF, its inclusion is still quite amazing regardless.

This form multiplies the user's power level by 900 times, giving them yellow fur, blue pants, and a yellow skirt. It looks incredible, and it's a darn shame that this form doesn't receive the exposure it deserved in Toyotaro's fan-made creation.

2 Great Gray Ape

The Great Gray Ape's concept is similar to the Great Golden Ape in Dragon Ball GT, with a user entering into a berserk state unless their tale is cut off or they manage to control themselves.

And what happens when the user manages to control their mind and power as a Great Gray Ape? Well, they unlock the following transformation.

1 Super Saiyan 5

This is the transformation that kickstarted the entire wave of fan transformations and rumors about a Dragon Ball AF — something that ended up becoming reality!

Super Saiyan 5 is easily the most legendary — and highly important — transformation in the world of Dragon Ball fan-fiction, letting fans go completely bonkers with their own Super Saiyan designs.

This form is a combination of the overall look of Super Saiyan 4 with the hair of Super Saiyan 3. The user's hair color is white and he sports greyish-white fur all over his body as well.
