The new Super Saiyan God form seems to be the main attraction for the sequel series to Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super. This anime takes a close seat behind the series main character Goku and his journey of learning, mastering, and surpassing the Super Saiyan God form. But what about the other most important Saiyan?
Vegeta is just as important as Goku and he's also reached the Super Saiyan God form and surpassed it as well. However, he hasn't had as much spotlight as Goku on his journey on his trip. This list will be looking between the lines at the details you may have missed when it comes to Super Saiyan God Vegeta.
10 HE HAD HELP FROM WHIS
While Goku had help from the Saiyans of his family around him to reach the Super Saiyan God form, Vegeta got his jump-start elsewhere. This help came from none other than Beerus and even more so Whis.
During the series, fans see Goku and Vegeta training but are stopped by Whis due to the fact that they aren't leveling up as much. Beerus suggest taking them to a special place to train. Once the two are taken to this place with Whis they find that the training grounds are very similar to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber but it is filled with god ki.
9 HE HAS ONE OF HIS STRONGEST MOVES IN THIS FORM
In the Super Saiyan Blue form, Vegeta has access to his most powerful special move which is God Final Flash. This move is, of course, a more powerful version of the Final Flash technique, the most powerful version of said move in fact. This time around the two ki colors in each hand has different colors with one being purple and the other being the usual yellow.
This move is used during the Tournament of Power in the Dragon Ball Heroes spinoff to defeat the Trio of Danger along with Goku and his Super Kamehameha.
8 THE SS EVOLVED FORM LOOKS DIFFERENT IN THE ANIME AND MANGA
The form that Vegeta unlocks to go beyond Super Saiyan God Blue has been dubbed the Super Saiyan God SS Evolved. It was unlocked during the Tournament of Power when Vegeta was up against the likes of Toppo and Jiren. This form was an anime original form and with the manga, following the anime, it decided to go in a different direction with the design of it.
In the anime, Vegeta's hair and eyes become a darker shade of royal blue and grow bigger and spiker as well. Along with this his muscle mass increases. In the manga, however, his hair changes simply dark blue and his body musculature stays the same.
7 VEGETA SURPASSED BLUE BY BREAKING HIS SELF-LIMITS
Little to his own knowing Vegeta had placed self-limiting shells on himself, not truly believing that he was able to surpass his rival Goku after witnessing his evolution to the Ultra Instinct form. However upon having something get in the way of his promise to Cabba he breaks those self-limits and unlocks his new transformation.
This power resulted in a power that rivaled powered up Toppo and gave Vegeta his new exclusive transformation Super Saiyan God SS Evolved.
6 VEGETA BECAME SS EVOLVED DUE TO NOT BEING COMPATIBLE WITH UI
For those that believed that Vegeta should have been able to transform into Ultra Instinct along with Goku, there's a good reason for him not being able to. Vegeta's nature doesn't allow him to transform into something that lets his instincts fully take over due to him being a more logic-based fighter.
Realizing this, Vegeta creates a form more suited to his fighting style. This power to find such a form from inside himself came directly from his pride of being a lone warrior who has learned on his own all his life.
5 VEGETA ORIGINALLY HAD NO CLUE A SUPER SAIYAN GOD WAS A THING
While the legend of the Super Saiyan was always a very common myth in the land of the Saiyans, the Super Saiyan God form was another story. It seems that the Super Saiyan God myth was kept wrapped up tight by the likes of Frieza and the rest of his family in fears that the rest of the Saiyans may find untapped potential in such a thing.
In fact, shown in the 2o14 manga Dragon Ball Minus once Frieza mentions this transformation Vegeta replies with nothing but surprise due to being unaware of this form.
4 DURING THE TOP BEFORE UNLOCKING SS EVOLVED HE WAS SOMEWHAT WEAK
In the grand scheme of things and when compared to most of the fighters in the series Vegeta stands atop the tower of power in Dragon Ball Super. However, when going into the Tournament of Power things were looking grim for the Prince of all Saiyans when compared to the other two most powerful fighters from his universe.
Those other two fighters, of course, were Goku and Frieza, and Vegeta was fighting to keep up with them. That is until he unlocked the SS Evolved God form.
3 VEGETA SURPASSED GOKU FOR A BIT IN HIS SSB FORM
Vegeta's pride led him to fight and train to master his new Super Saiyan God form completely on his own. This means that he wished to have no direct guidance from the God of Destruction, Beerus and his assistant Whis. Funny enough this led to Vegeta being able to make Beerus have to put in a bit more work than usual.
Vegeta trains on Beerus and Whis's planet for six months alone and once Goku shows up he witnesses Vegeta's newfound power and admits that he may have surpassed him.
2 IN THE MANGA VEGETA SURPASSES GOKU WITH A NEW TECHNIQUE
In the manga, Vegeta surpasses Goku wholeheartedly with a new technique called the Super Saiyan God-to-Blue Switching technique. This technique was used to battle against Goku Black and entailed rapidly switching from Super Saiyan God to Blue form to take both forms to the full limit.
This is due to Super Saiyan God being faster and Super Saiyan Blue having more power while using more stamina. Meaning the rapid switching is the optimal way to fight in the form.
1 THE ORIGINAL SUPER SAIYAN GOD RESEMBLES VEGETA
As seen in the limited shots of the original Super Saiyan God in Saiyan history it's easy to see that this legend heavily resembles the Saiyan Prince Vegeta himself.
Not just the hair but the whole outfit that Vegeta usually is seen in is also worn by the original Super Saiyan God as well. This could possibly show that there is some kind of relationship between the two. Perhaps some type of ancestor? Hopefully, answers are given in the future of the series.
