With the recent release of the new Dragon Ball Super film, Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and its amazing success, all eyes have been on the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly. For a good reason too! Broly has been redone from a somewhat one-dimensional character into one that's much more entertaining and we can't wait to see more of him and his transformation.

Speaking of his transformation, there's a lot that many may not know about the Legendary Super Saiyan form. So we've put together this list of facts that may surprise you to learn about this once Broly-exclusive transformation.

10 THIS IS A BERSERK FORM

Berserk is a term used to describe forms in the Dragon Ball series that relieve the user of all control. Not many forms in the series (at least in canon) use this description. The Legendary Super Saiyan is one of those few forms. This is why no matter the media, in this form the user simply goes into a one-track state of mind and goes on a crazy rampage.

The only forms in the series canon that also share this description are any forms related to the Great Ape/Ozaru transformation.

9 IT IS THE FINAL FORM OF THE STANDARD SUPER SAIYAN

We're sure you are all familiar with the forms that follow after the original Super Saiyan state. 1, 2, 3, and if you're a fan of the unpopular sequel GT, Super Saiyan 4. However, did you remember that there were multiple forms of each state, including the original Super Saiyan form? This is where the Legendary Super Saiyan form comes in as it is an extension of this original transformation.

It is stated in the series lore that the Legendary Super Saiyan is a powered-up form and the final transformation of the standard SSJ

8 IT IS A PART OF A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BRANCH OF SSJ TRANSFORMATIONS

If you've ever wondered why don't Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, and the rest of the Super Saiyan cast have to go past the Legendary Super Saiyan transformation state to get to Super Saiyan 2 and the rest of the Super forms, here's your big answer. There are in fact multiple branches to the Super Saiyan transformation chain.

Whereas most of the cast goes from different states of Super Saiyans, Broly and Kale go through the Legendary chain. This includes not only their full-power, B-Type, Legendary state but the C-Type form as well.

7 IT HAS A SEEMINGLY ENDLESS SUPPLY OF ENERGY

So why is the Legendary Super Saiyan so important and special other than it being a form used by just two characters in the entirety of the Dragon Ball series's history? Well, that importance is due to the fact that the form grants the user a seemingly endless supply of energy. It's a ridiculous buff when applied to any type of character and is uber fanfic material.

That's why the Legendary Super Saiyan is so feared. Why else do you think it always takes more than one person to take on Broly?

6 THE FORM APPEARS ONCE EVERY 1000 YEARS

Kale lssj from Dragon Ball Super bursts with rage.

You may be wondering when exactly this was confirmed in the Dragon Ball series, as it was never stated in any of the three original non-canon Broly films nor the new Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie. However, it was confirmed in the Dragon Ball Super manga which differs in many ways to the anime.

In Dragon Ball Super chapter 38, Cabba states that Kale's Legendary transformation is one that shows up every 1000 years. This could simply only be the case for the universe 6 Saiyans as it has never been stated in relation to Broly.

5 IT MAY BE THE TRUE FORM OF THE SAIYANS

It was once believed that the true form of the Saiyans was the berserker form of Ozaru/The Great Ape. However, Vegeta offers a theory that another Saiyan form could be the true form of the ancient warrior race. This form is equally as berserk but is even more powerful than the Great Apes (unless we're talking the Golden Great Apes).

This form is, of course, the Legendary Super Saiyan. In Dragon Ball Super episode 100, after Kale transforms into her Legendary state, Vegeta states that this form could be the true form of the Saiyans.

4 THIS FORM COULD BE THAT OF THE ORIGINAL SUPER SAIYAN

Remember that Saiyan of lore that Vegeta just couldn't shut up about? The one that was talked about all throughout the Saiyan Saga, Namek Saga, and Frieza Saga of Dragon Ball Z? Well, that original Super Saiyan may have been using the form of the Legendary Super Saiyan.

This form is one where the user has a love of destruction and slaughter which is a shared trait of the Saiyan of legends. This form being that of the legendary Super Saiyan's is the reason it's called the way that it is.

3 WHEN THIS FORM POWERS UP IT'S HAIR BECOMES GOLD

Broly faces off against Kid Trunks in Dragon Ball Z: Broly - Second Coming

One of the design aspects of the Legendary Super Saiyan is the fact that its hair isn't the same color as your standard Dragon Ball Super Saiyan. As seen in the now non-canon film Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan, the hair color of the Legendary Super Saiyan is yellow with a green tint to it.

However, when Broly makes his return in a more powerful form during the sequel film Dragon Ball Z: Broly - Second Coming, his hair is now the classic full Super Saiyan Gold. This changes in Super: Broly as each form has a tint of green to the hair.

2 THE FORM LOOKS SIMILAR TO SSJ THIRD GRADE BUT HAS A "BIG" DIFFERENCE

Pay big attention to the explanation above because it's a big hint to the difference between the Legendary Super Saiyan form and the Super Saiyan grade 3 that we saw Trunks, Goku, and Vegeta reach during the Cell Saga in Dragon Ball Z.

While both forms increase muscle mass ten-fold, there's one physical change that separates the two forms besides the fact that the Legendary form can move without the sluggishness grade three has. That difference is the fact that the Legendary form actually increases the user's height by three meters.

1 THE USER CAN DIE IF THE FORM IS USED TOO LONG

This may not have been established in previous Broly/Legendary Super Saiyan appearances but it was stated in relation to the universe 6 Legendary Super Saiyan Kale in Dragon Ball Super. Cabba and Caulifa state that this form's power growing constantly is a blessing and a curse that can grow so powerful that it eventually kills the user.

This transformation is one that relies on extreme power and therefore ends up largely hurting the user itself much like the Kaioken form.
