It's hard to be an anime fan and not have some level of familiarity with Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball has been able to endure for so long and fuel so much anime, manga, and video game content because the series has established a rich world that's full of enjoyable characters. Vegeta isn't present at the start of Dragon Ball, but he quickly grows into one of the most popular characters in the series.

Vegeta's undying quest for more power and to be the strongest in the universe has led to some of his most fulfilling development. He's easily one of Dragon Ball's most powerful characters, but there are still some individuals who'd be able to give Vegeta serious pause.

10 Uub Is A Future Hero Full Of Immeasurable Power

Uub powers up in Dragon Ball Z

There are so many characters to explore in Dragon Ball that there are inevitably figures who have unfulfilled potential. Dragon Ball Super is still trying to figure out what to do with Uub, including just how much he should be involved in the story. Uub is a child so he's largely oblivious to the reincarnated energy that he possesses. In this respect, if Vegeta consciously targeted Uub then he may be able to defeat him, but it's not a guarantee. Under the right tutelage, Uub has the potential to overwhelm both Vegeta and Goku.

9 Broly's Legendary Super Saiyan Strength Requires Fusion For Defeat

Anime Vegeta v Broly

It's taken a few decades, but Broly has officially entered the Dragon Ball canon through his appearance in Dragon Ball Super: Broly. Broly's backstory received some minor revisions, but he's still a tremendously aggressive and dangerous Legendary Super Saiyan. Vegeta and Goku both learn that their Super Saiyan Blue powers aren't enough on their own against Broly's peak performance. Their insufficient strength prompts them to become Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta for the first time, who can actually keep up with this Saiyan juggernaut. On his own, Vegeta isn't strong enough.

8 Moro Represents Pure Evil & Requires A Tag Team Assault

Anime Vegeta Being Grabbed By Moro

Dragon Ball Super's anime ends with the epic conclusion of the Tournament of Power, but the series' manga has expanded upon the story in incredible ways. The next major villain is Planet-Eater Moro, an ancient magic user who has had thousands of years to develop a grudge and a plan.

Moro represents a new level of power and he even merges with the planet itself. Ultra Instinct Goku – along with the help of Vegeta's Forced Spirit Fission and Uub's energy donation – finally conquers the threat. None of them would have succeeded on their own, especially not Vegeta.

7 Beerus Is A God Of Destruction Who's Taught Vegeta Some Of His Best Tricks

Anime Dragon Ball Super Beerus Vegeta

Beerus is one of the more powerful new characters to enter Dragon Ball Super and his revered God of Destruction status means he shouldn't be trifled with. Curiously, Beerus' introduction features a very frightened and submissive Vegeta. He's particularly concerned that Beerus may blow up the planet. Despite this, a respectable friendship forges between them. Beerus even considers Vegeta worthy of being a God of Destruction and teaches him the ways of both Hakai and Ultra Ego. Vegeta's strength is at an incredible level, but the full limits of Beerus' powers are yet to be seen.

6 Whis & The Power Of Angels Still Surpass Vegeta's Saiyan Strength

Anime vegeta vs whis dragon ball super

Dragon Ball Super's expanded multiverse is marked by the arrival of Beerus and Whis, both of which serve very important roles in the grander scope of Universe 7's wellbeing. Whis is the more reserved of the two, so he's not one to brazenly show off his powers. That being said, Whis is actually stronger than Beerus and he actually helped train the God of Destruction. Vegeta has made exceptional strides, especially with Ultra Ego, but Whis can rewind time and teleport between universes. He's far beyond Vegeta's strength.

5 Universe 11's Jiren Is All Business & Actually Defeats Vegeta

Anime Dragon Ball Super Jiren Beats Vegeta

Tournaments are a regular tradition in Dragon Ball. They're an effective way to showcase how much everyone has grown while also showing off new and exciting opponents. Dragon Ball Super concludes with the biggest competition of all time: a battle royale between the strongest fighters across the multiverse where erasure lays on the line. Universe 7 dominates much of the competition, but Jiren quickly emerges as their main competition from Universe 11. All of Vegeta's attempts against Jiren fall short and even Goku's temperamental experience with Ultra Instinct isn't enough.

4 Granolah Manipulates The Dragon Balls For Exceptional Strength

Manga Dragon Ball Super Granolah Attacks Ultra Ego Vegeta

The past sins of the Saiyans have come back to haunt Vegeta and Goku in some challenging ways, with the most recent attack being launched by the Cerealien survivor Granolah. Granolah's rage towards the death of his people is so extreme that he abuses the Dragon Balls to become the strongest in the universe, albeit at a major price.

By mere technicality, Granolah surpasses Vegeta's strength. Vegeta makes his Ultra Ego debut against Granolah, but he's still inferior in strength. It's possible that Granolah will meet his end by the conclusion of this arc, but it won't be by Vegeta's hand.

3 Vados Is A Superior Angel With Unfathomable Abilities

Vados fakes some tears in Dragon Ball Super.

Beerus and Whis receive the most attention when it comes to Gods of Destruction and Angels, but Champa and Vados are significant figures from Universe 6 who are also extremely important. Universe 6 corresponds to Universe 7 so this means that Champa and Vados show up quite often. There's a lot of resemblance between Universe 6 and 7's Angels and Gods of Destruction. In fact, Vados is actually Whis' older sister. Vados' fighting skills aren't extensively displayed, but Whis makes it clear that she's stronger than him, which leaves Vegeta even more outclassed here.

2 Omni-King Zeno Rules Over Everything & Represents Ultimate Power

Zeno destroys a universe in Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball's many important celestial figures shouldn't be tested, but there are still occasions where various Kais have met their ends under extreme circumstances. Omni-King Zeno is a very different story and it's truly unlikely that the king of all universes could ever be defeated. Zeno may not look like much but he can erase entire universes with zero effort and possesses unimaginable power. Not only could Zeno beat Vegeta, but Vegeta's insolence would likely result in the elimination of Universe 7 as a whole.

1 Goku's Rivalry With Vegeta Pushes Them Both Past Their Limits

Goku and Vegeta argue

One of the central dynamics of Dragon Ball is the friendly rivalry between Vegeta and Goku as they continually challenge each other on their journey for supremacy. This competition has become more difficult to judge since the two have finally diverged on separate paths that cater towards their own individual strengths. Vegeta has at least conceded that he's inferior to Goku and can accept this as a reality, which is something that wasn't true during the height of their rivalry. They continue to push each other to become better, but Goku always maintains the lead.
