The Dragon Ball series has experienced a very healthy life as a manga and anime, but it’s also seen a ton of success in the video game industry. Dragon Ball has decades of material to pull from, which has led to a wide array of video games that helped keep the franchise alive. Dragon Ball video games have evolved in impressive ways and they’ve managed to cover the entire franchise, tell their own original stories, and showcase some of the more forgotten characters from the series.

Dragon Ball fighting games have reached an absurd place and Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission boasts hundreds of characters that leave no stone unturned. However, there are a few characters that slip through the cracks in other Dragon Ball video games

10 Mr. Popo Is An Elusive Figure Who’s Left To Remain A Mystery

Mr Popo from Dragon Ball

Mr. Popo is an entertaining, if not enigmatic, character that plays a more integral role in Goku’s life during the original Dragon Ball series. Mr. Popo remains a faithful helper who helps out the Earth’s Guardian, whether that’s Kami or Dende. Mr. Popo is shown to possess at least some level of fighting acumen and he even makes an intimidating threat towards Vegeta in Dragon Ball Super. Mr. Popo has enough original elements that he could make for a fun playable character, especially when others like King Kai have been given such treatment.

9 Babidi’s Alien Minion Pui Pui Doesn’t Make The Cut

Pui Pui punches Vegeta to little effect in Dragon Ball Z

Dragon Ball Z’s Buu Saga makes for the final major arc in the anime and the material goes all out in terms of both Buu’s strength and his resilience. Buu takes many forms, but before he can reign terror down on everyone, he first needs to be awakened by Babidi. Babidi utilizes a few warriors as his defense, one of which is the ferocious alien, Pui Pui. Vegeta makes swift work of Pui Pui during their fight. Pui Pui shows up as a support attack for Babidi in Budokai Tenkaichi 3, but he could do a lot on his own.

8 Olibu Poses A Decent Challenge Against Goku In The Other World Tournament

Anime Dragon Ball Z Olibu Other World Tournament

The Dragon Ball franchise features a number of tournaments that make for exciting ways to rank everyone’s strength, but also introduce new and powerful opponents. One of Dragon Ball Z’s better examples of filler involves Goku’s participation in the Other World Tournament, a martial arts competition for dead warriors.

Olibu is a Hercules-like character that boasts traditional super strength and an exaggerated personality. Pikkon is the standout character from the tournament and he’s playable in games, but Olibu would also be a lot of fun and another example of a powerful human character.

7 Fortuneteller Baba’s Powers Of Clairvoyance Are Left Off Of The Battlefield

Fortuneteller Baba yells in disappointment in Dragon Ball Super.

Dragon Ball never stops introducing entertaining and unusual characters, but the original series has a very playful energy with characters that feel more representative of certain fantasy tropes. Fortuneteller Baba is a valuable character who remains in the background throughout Goku’s later adventures. Baba may not be a strong fighter herself, but she could control like a character that uses her supernatural fighters as support. Her mystical abilities also have a lot of potential and there are definitely directions that the character could become practical for battle. Master Roshi is playable, but not his older sister.

6 Dende Is One Namekian That Remains Helpful Support

Anime Dragon Ball Dende

Dragon Ball gradually broadens its scope to go beyond Earth and include many other alien races, but the Namekians are some of the earliest extraterrestrials that enter the picture. Many Namekians, even some of the more fringe ones like Kami or Lord Slug, are playable in video games. Dende is a character that shows up as a source of help and guidance in Dragon Ball games, but he’s not playable. Dende’s specialties lean towards healing, not combat, but there are still ways that this could be worked into his playstyle. Even Dende’s older look from Dragon Ball GT could work.

5 Monster Carrot Is A Unique Villain Who’d Be Perfect to Control

Monster Carrot and his Carrot Mobile appear in Dragon Ball

Monster Carrot is one of the weirder foes from the original Dragon Ball anime that’s only around for a brief time, but he stands out due to just how bizarre of an early enemy he is for Goku.

Monster Carrot is a giant rabbit with ninja connections and the ability to turn people into carrots. He gets stranded on the moon, which is also an especially strange end to his character. Monster Carrot’s design and his unusually strong skills seem ideal to control in a fighting game. He could operate a lot like Buu, but go in his own direction.

4 Ox-King’s Massive Size Would Make Him An Entertaining Character

Anime Dragon Ball Ox King

A major component of Dragon Ball is that Goku builds a family, who also get to mature and continue on his legacy. Goku enters this new chapter of his life with Chi-Chi, who has actually ended up as a playable character on a few occasions. Chi-Chi’s biggest fan is her father, Ox-King, who comfortably leads a relaxed life, but comes from a past of excitement. Ox-King doesn’t get to do much fighting in the anime, but he’d make for an interesting character to control and his large physique could play a major factor.

3 Puar’s Powers Of Metamorphosis Could Inspire Unconventional Gameplay

Anime Upa and Puar

Goku and the characters in Dragon Ball reach a point where they have the power of Gods and they can easily destroy entire planets without difficulty. It’s sometimes easy to forget that the franchise begins in more comedic roots, but characters like Puar and Oolong stick around and remain vestiges of the series’ past. These are two strange shapeshifting creatures that actually hold a surprising amount of potential. Oolong has been featured as a playable character on some rare occasions, but unfortunately, Puar has been left behind. At the least, the two of them could operate as a team.

2 The Weak Nature Of Monaka Conveniently Keeps Him Out Of Battle

Monaka throws a punch at Hit in Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball Super brings the concept of multiple universes into the mix as well as new celestial tiers of power, like Gods of Destruction. Beerus often engages in a bitter rivalry with Universe 6’s Whis, which often culminates in competition. Beerus consistently uses Monaka, an ordinary delivery worker, as a scapegoat to make Goku work harder. Monaka has no physical abilities, but Beerus convinces Goku of the contrary. Monaka would be a fun change of pace or even the costumed version of the character that Beerus pretends to be would suffice.

1 Zeno’s Supreme Powers Would Turn Every Opponent Into Child’s Play

Both Zenos erase existence in Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball Super firmly plants Grand King Zeno at the top totem of power for the universe’s many deities. Zeno outranks absolutely everyone and he’s casually able to erase an entire universe. This dangerous level of power combined with Zeno’s child-like attitude could result in an immensely enjoyable character. Zeno’s unbeatable strength may seem like a roadblock, but it could also make for a fun reward for players. Other characters like the Grand Priests could even show up to try to restrain Zeno’s powers when he executes his major special moves.
