With the Dragon Ball franchise, you know you're bound to get a lot of fights, it's the lifeblood of the franchise and the Shounen genre as a whole. People tune in to see epic encounters that are chock-full of emotion and cool abilities. More often than not, Dragon Ball delivered those elements in spades.

Question is, who got the most fights in the series? Everyone can pretty much guess who are numbers one and two, but the rest of the list is sure to surprise a few folks. To preface a little here, this doesn't take into account GT nor any of the movies. It's strictly Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super.

10 Frieza

There's no doubt that Frieza is Dragon Ball's most recognizable villain and one of, if not the best they have. His quips are pure entertainment and he helped provide a very interesting dynamic during the Tournament of Power, particularly his few interactions with Gohan. Everyone remembers his epic clash with Goku, but he had some great showings in Super as well. His golden form let him more than hold his own against some of the heavyweights introduced from other universes.

9 Roshi

Master Roshi isn't just the resident pervert of the Dragon Ball franchise, he can throw down with the best of him. The fact he got to fight in Super, unlike Z, was such a nice change of pace, especially for those who have watched Dragon Ball. He's never going to be the most powerful character, but he was Goku's mentor for a reason, and it was nice newer fans of the franchise got to have a little taste of that. Some of his more memorable scraps are from the original series, such as Jackie Chun vs Goku and his brief battle with King Piccolo.

8 Yamcha

This is likely the first surprise on the list, but there was a time that Yamcha wasn't a complete and utter joke. He used to be a fairly capable fighter back in the days of Dragon Ball. Times have changed for the human now, gone is Bulma and his dignity, reduced down to nothing more than a meme.

Sadly, even most of his fights back then resulted in losses, best of which being his scrap with Tien in the World Tournament. It acted as a good building block for Tien and showcased some nice hand to hand combat.

7 Trunks

Trunks entry includes both incarnations of himself, both future and kid Trunks, helping catapult him over Yamcha, despite him only being present in maybe half the series. Despite that, he's a clear fan favorite for many, with storyline of Future Trunks being the darkest in the whole series. It led to some awesome encounters with both the androids and Cell during Z as well as a fun arc with Zamasu. It's a shame his win was stripped away from him.

6 Tien

The term underrated or underused gets thrown around a lot in shounen, but it's an apt description of the three-eyed Z Warrior. His storyline was always compelling and his connection to Chiaotzu led to one of the best moments in Dragon Ball Z. The way the two of them sacrificed themselves against Nappa was great. His fights with Goku back in Dragon Ball were thrilling, with the character being one of the original villains turned heroes. If there's one character that deserves a power boost and more screen time, it's him.

5 Gohan

He may seem lower on the list than some may have anticipated, but part of that is due to them slowly building him up in Super, only really unleashing him in the Tournament of Power. His peak will always be during the android saga, however.

That's where his story reached it's fitting conclusion, allowing him to beat Cell in a great (if a bit long) fight. Beyond that encounter, he showed some nice moves later in Super with his teamwork with Piccolo being very fun to watch.

4 Piccolo

Piccolo gets a boost from being in all three series, even if he's only in the last arc of Dragon Ball. He's a character who's shine peaks and valleys depending on the arc, with his importance lessening in Super. That doesn't change that the man has had some of the best fights in the entire series. His showdown with Goku in Dragon Ball still holds up today as easily the best from the original series. He also has a banger of a fight with Android 17 that is sadly cut short.

3 Krillin

Krillin In Dragon Ball Z

The expression above may as well represent the shock of Krillin being this high on the list, but it's true. He's known as the strongest human in the universe for a reason. He's a character that's been around forever, showing up in the second arc of Dragon Ball and always seemingly involved in the major fight of every arc. He doesn't get showcased nearly as much as the Saiyans, but he's always there, supporting the team. He doesn't have any real stand out one on one battles aside from maybe against Goku, but he was apart of some of the better ensemble encounters.

2 Vegeta

The Prince of all Saiyans is always destined to be number two in this series, a role he's begun to accept in Super. He's simply not going to pass Goku, but that doesn't make him any less of an amazing character. He has some of the most epic moments in the whole series, from the father-son Galick Gun to his amazingly done self-sacrifice against Buu. That moment helped solidify the hero that he became in Super and still resonates today. Pinning down his best fight would be hard as he's had so many memorable ones.

1 Goku

Was there ever any doubt who'd end up with the top spot? In a Shounen, the main protagonist is always going to have this honor, and it's rightfully Goku's. While he may not be everyone's favorite character, he has hands down the best fights in the series. The most shocking thing here may be just how wide the margin is from first to second. Thanks to Dragon Ball, Goku has over double the fights of Vegeta throughout the series.
