When Majin Buu was resurrected in Dragon Ball Z, fans found it hard to believe that the chubby pink fighter would actually prove to be such a threat. As Dragon Ball Z's strongest villain, Buu engaged in several battles, taking several different forms, all more menacing than the next. But despite his seemingly bottomless strength, there are several Dragon Ball heroes that Buu could never even dream of defeating, and others that he would probably just knock out in one blow. Below are five examples of characters that Buu could defeat, as well as five that he couldn't, despite which form he might happen to take.

10 Can Defeat: Gotenks

Anime Entry 10 - Gotenks Gets Beaten By Buu

Gotenks might be one of the most powerful Saiyans in existence, and definitely the strongest child in the Dragon Ball universe, able to achieve Super Saiyan 3 after his counterparts saw it once, but he would never be able to defeat Majin Buu as he is now. In Dragon Ball Z, Gotenks rushed to fight Majin Buu without a strategy, but was easily overwhelmed. Even as a Super Saiyan 3, Super Buu was able to withstand his attacks and toy with him until the fusion expired, especially given the fact that Gotenks has a bad habit of wasting time by coming up with childish names for useless attacks.

9 Can't Defeat: Beerus

In both the beginning of Dragon Ball Super and the film Battle of Gods, Beerus dealt with Majin Buu in seconds when he refused to share his pudding cups. Despite Buu's regenerative body, Beerus was able to exhaust him to the point where he could no longer pose a threat. Sure, he could just turn Beerus into candy, but like Vegito, he'd only retain all of his power. His absorption technique would also never work on someone like Beerus, who was already familiar with Majin Buu due to being alive for centuries. Even Buu at his peak, after he had just absorbed Gohan, Gotenks, and Piccolo, wouldn't be enough to stop Beerus, who'd simply just wipe Buu from the face of existence with a simple "Hakai."

8 Can Defeat: Krillin

It doesn't really matter whether or not Krillin is the strongest human. Against a villain as destructive as Majin Buu, someone who couldn't even beat a Super Saiyan would stand no chance against Buu's weakest form. Though his Destructo Disc could cut right through Buu, the Majin would just slide his body back into place. Krillin's Solar Flare x100 does have the potential to stun Buu for a brief period of time, but Krillin lacks the power necessary to follow-up with an attack that's strong enough to injure Buu. If he teamed up with a stronger warrior like Vegeta or Gohan, he would probably stand a chance, but alone, he might as well just be Yamcha.

7 Can't Defeat: Gohan

At his full potential, Gohan would wipe the floor with Buu. He'd already proven himself against Super Buu before his cockiness got the better of him, and if he had been able to assist Goku and Vegeta during their battle against Kid Buu, Goku probably wouldn't have been pushed to use a Spirit Bomb. Despite his gigantic power decrease in Super, he managed to unlock his hidden potential once more before the Tournament of Power, regaining the strength that crippled Super Buu all those years ago. The only way that Buu could beat him if they had a rematch would be to absorb him, but knowing Gohan, he's way too smart to fall for the same trick twice.

6 Can Defeat: Piccolo

Piccolo's come a long way from the days of Dragon Ball. Through constant training and two fusions with other strong Namekians, he's become an ever-evolving powerhouse, strong enough to keep up with Super Saiyan 2 Gohan in Dragon Ball Super. It's a shame that he doesn't really have any special techniques that would help him get rid of Buu. His Special Beam Cannon would drill a hole right through the Majin, but what good would that do if he could just fix the hole in his stomach?

5 Can't Defeat: Vegeta

Entry 5 - Vegeta Beats Up Kid Buu

Vegeta fought Buu twice in Dragon Ball Z, and both times, he didn't stand a chance. The first time, he sacrificed his own life without causing any injury to Majin Buu whatsoever, and the second time, Kid Buu swung him around by the neck with his antenna. Now that he's gained the powers of a God, a rematch with Buu would go a little differently. Not only would he be able to use his Final Explosion and still have enough energy leftover to finish Buu off, but his Super Saiyan Blue powers alone would be more than enough to rid the planet of the Majin for good.

4 Can Defeat: Android 18

Although she isn't as strong as her twin brother, Android 18 is no pushover. As shown in Dragon Ball Z, she's strong enough to take on Super Saiyan Goten and Trunks at once. During the Tournament of Power, her infinite energy enabled her to stand up to powerful warriors like Ribrianne and the Pride Trooper known as Cocotte. Despite this, she let her guard down several times, like during her fight against Universe 4's Shosa and Gamisalas, requiring the help of her teammates to avoid being eliminated. If 18 had to fight any form of Majin Buu, her infinite energy would allow her to withstand a few initial blows, but she lacks the power needed to deal a definitive strike that could blow Buu to bubblegum-colored bits.

3 Can't Defeat: Uub

Before we delve into this one, we want to make this clear: by Uub, we mean Uub before he fused with Majin Buu, making him Majuub. Fans might ask themselves why Buu and Uub might even be fighting, but's let's just assume some time travel happened for argument's sake. While Super Saiyan 3 Goku didn't stand a chance against Baby Vegeta, upon fighting Uub, Baby was quick to claim that he was stronger than Trunks, Gohan, and Goten combined. Despite this, Uub wasn't able to injure Baby Vegeta, although he did manage to last against him for a similar amount of time as Super Saiyan 3 Goku. At full power, Uub would definitely be able to match Kid Buu, and the techniques that he learned after training with Goku would provide him with the perfect counter to Kid Buu's reckless style of combat. Out of all of Buu's forms, Super Buu would give him the greatest amount of difficulty, but we're certain Uub would have no difficulty giving him an Ultimate Gohan-style beatdown.

2 Can Defeat: Future Trunks

Though Future Trunks has learned how to go Super Saiyan 2, fans know that he would need to tap into a stronger power in order to defeat Majin Buu. His Super Saiyan Rage form would give him more of an edge, though it's difficult to categorize this form in terms of power. It allowed him to stand up to Zamasu and Goku Black at once, though at the end of the day, it wasn't enough to injure them. His Sword of Hope would do no good against a foe like Buu who could piece himself back together after having been sliced down the middle, and that's assuming that Majin Buu hadn't already murdered everyone on the planet, since the attack relies on the energy of other living things. Because Trunks doesn't know what Buu is capable of, Buu would most likely turn him into candy or absorb him the minute Trunks's evolving abilities began to overwhelm him.

1 Can't Defeat: Goku

This should go without saying, but a Dragon Ball list without the star of the show isn't a list at all. Even with his Super Saiyan 3 power, Goku already possessed enough strength to defeat both Majin Buu. His Super Saiyan God transformation would be more than enough to reduce even Kid Buu to a lifeless pink blob. If for some reason Goku was feeling particularly eager, a Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken would put him leagues beyond Super Buu with Ultimate Gohan absorbed. If for some reason he went into Ultra Instinct while fighting Majin Buu, we all know how that fight would go. Since Goku knows about Buu's absorption technique, he wouldn't allow himself to be caught. No longer would he need to rely on his Spirit Bomb to get the job done. Now, he can defeat one of his universe's most antiquated threats with his own two fists.
