Out of all the characters in Dragon Ball, Bulma is one who's definitely changed a lot over the years. We've watched her grow from an overconfident teenager to a brilliant inventor, and unlike someone like Goku, we've watched her romantic endeavors flourish and change. In the original Dragon Ball, she ended up dating the former desert bandit Yamcha, but the relationship struggled on account of his rampant infidelity. It was during those three years that the Z-Fighters spent preparing for the arrival of the Androids that she and Vegeta had their first romantic encounter. They may not have been romantically connected even after the birth of their son, Trunks. But by the start of Dragon Ball Super, it's clear that Bulma and Vegeta are just as inseparable as any other couple in the series.

Looking back, did Bulma make a mistake? Should she have worked things out with Yamcha, or was switching over to the Saiyan side of the tracks the right move to make? We've assembled a list of reasons as to why each man was potentially the best man.

10 Yamcha: He's The Same Species As Bulma

Even now, it's hard to believe that such a prideful Saiyan like Vegeta would romantically involve himself with Bulma, someone who he still viewed as a nuisance even after having a baby with her. While Dr. Brief and Panchy are two of the least worrisome characters in the entire franchise, we doubt even they reacted with straight faces after finding out that their daughter brought home a genocidal alien warrior.

True, love has no boundaries, and this wouldn't make them the first Saiyan-human couple we saw in the series. But it did feel a bit inappropriate given the fact that Bulma is fully aware that Vegeta was once set on killing her and everyone else on Earth.

9 Vegeta: He's Strong Enough To Protect Her From Anything

For an Earthling, Yamcha's pretty strong, despite not getting the credit he deserves. He may not be stronger than Krillin and Tien, but he surpasses other Earthlings like Hercule, Master Roshi, and Chiaotzu. Still, it didn't take long for his power to seem insignificant against villains like Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu.

Vegeta, on the other hand, was strong enough to defend Bulma's honor after she'd been slapped by Beerus. With his newfound Super Saiyan Blue Evolved transformation, we can't think of many people who could defeat Vegeta with ease. By marrying Vegeta, Bulma's secured herself one of the best bodyguards the multiverse has to offer.

8 Yamcha: He Was Bulma's First Boyfriend

Bulma and Yamcha Happy Mad

Bulma's relationship with Yamcha began like many relationships often do: the two were friends long before they were lovers. It was through journeying together that they realized that they were exactly what the other needed at the moment.

Sure, Bulma had every right to break up with Yamcha, but there's a lot more innocence and meaning in this relationship's foundations than there is in her initial courtship with Vegeta.

7 Vegeta: He Has No Reason To Be Intimidated By Her

Men can often be intimidated by a woman who's stronger or smarter than them. While Bulma may not be able to compete with Yamcha on a physical level, she's by far the smarter of the two. A guy as immature as Yamcha was bound to cheat on someone he could never outwit,

Whereas someone like Vegeta, who only covets the latest Super Saiyan transformation, has no reason to be intimidated by a bookworm like Bulma. He even lets her be the primary breadwinner and feels no shame in staying home and training all day.

6 Yamcha: He Has A Better Fashion Sense

For the most part, Vegeta wears different designs of the Saiyan armor he's been accustomed to since childhood. We've seen him in different outfits on very rare occasions as he's settled into life on Earth, but for the most part, he's been rocking the same fit for years.

Yamcha, on the other hand, has been seen in a wide variety of different outfits, not to mention the fact that he's cut and styled his hair throughout the series while Vegeta's hair hasn't changed at all since the day he was introduced. If she married Yamcha, Bulma would've had a husband who could match her own dynamic passion for fashion.

5 Vegeta: He Comes From A Family Of High Status As Well

While Bulma doesn't come from royalty, her father is one of the most well-known scientists in the world, and by the time she met Goku, she was destined to inherit the multi-million dollar company known as Capsule Corporation. She's pretty much the Bill Gates of the Dragon Ball world!

As a Saiyan prince, Vegeta's also come from a well-known, noble family, and his incredible power is not only a result of his bloodline, but due in large part to the best trainers and technology available to the Saiyan during his youth. The fact that Bulma and Vegeta both come from upper-echelon families means that they both understand what it means to live up to high expectations while moving with a degree of excellence that someone like Yamcha could never understand.

4 Yamcha: He Has A Real Job

From what we've seen so far, it's not typical for Saiyans to get jobs, though Bulma doesn't seem to have a problem with Vegeta's eternal unemployment. Working an actual job would teach him so many lessons about commitment and discipline that would've made him a better father much earlier in the series.

Yamcha, meanwhile, is a successful baseball player, and there's no question that he could easily support a family. If Bulma married Yamcha, the two could afford to split the costs of living in the big city. In fact, Bulma could've taken many more vacations than she's been able to!

3 Vegeta: He Never Cheated On Her

When Bulma and Yamcha first got together, it looked like a match made in heaven, but it wasn't long for things to take a turn for the worse. No matter who he decides to date, a handsome man like Yamcha will always have multiple options. Unfortunately, he decided to indulge a bit, which led to them parting ways for good in Dragon Ball Z.

Vegeta, on the other hand, isn't the most sociable, so it's not like he'd meet another woman at a club or party. In dating Bulma, he doesn't need to since her stubborn, headstrong persona resembles that of the Saiyan women he's biologically primed to favor.

2 Yamcha: He Traveled Together With Her

After Yamcha's initial introduction in Dragon Ball, he became a pivotal ally in the quest to hunt down the Dragon Balls, even saving the others from being crushed by Goku after he transformed into a Great Ape for the first time in the series.

Conversely, Bulma and Vegeta only went on a vacation together once in Dragon Ball Super. This trip wasn't nearly as long or epic as the journey for the Dragon Balls that took Yamcha and Bulma to many different villages and towns. If she was looking to venture out of her lab and get a change of scenery more often, Vegeta definitely isn't the guy to do it with.

1 Vegeta: They Propagated The Saiyan Race

Perhaps the biggest reason why fans support Bulma and Vegeta's relationship is the fact that they birthed one of the most popular Dragon Ball characters of all time: Trunks (Future Trunks especially). If Bulma had kids with Yamcha, they'd be as special as Krillin and 18's daughter Marron. But since Trunks is half-Saiyan, he is not only born with vast reserves of power.

However, the fact that he and his younger sister Bulla were conceived at all marks a very important development in Saiyan history. This warrior race was nearly wiped out into extinction, but Bulma did her part in reviving them from the brink - even giving us Universe 7's first female Saiyan in years.
