Excitement for Dr. Stone fans is high as the anime is due to begin its second season in January. With it comes the promise of new characters, locales and the first real look at the Tsukasa Army's headquarters and people. After spending much of the first season getting to know those in Ishigami village, it only makes sense that viewers will be curious about those in the opposing camp -- and the trailer's already revealed three of them!

The latest trailer briefly introduces three new characters, who, by their muscular structure alone, are easily determined to be part of Tsukasa's camp: Nikki, Ukyo and Yo. As for the part they will play, the trailer gives a few hints, but nothing concrete. Still, with the team looking to undermine Tsukasa's rule while saving everyone, there's always the potential for these new opponents to become allies.

Nikki

Dr Stone Nikki

Nikki is the only girl among the new characters, but certainly the most athletically inclined of the three, described by the trailer as a "rugged judo practitioner." And we believe it -- she's built like a tank, and the trailer shows her throwing her opponent with ease. But underneath that "rugged" exterior, she's still a girl through and through, which is hinted at with her decidedly feminine double braids that seem reminiscent of Viking hair-styles. It may take the team a while to chip away at her strong personality to get down to the heart of the maiden, but should they succeed it's obviously apparent that she could be a valuable ally.

Ukyo

Dr Stone Ukyo

Ukyo is a little harder to get a read on, and not only because he, like Hyoga, favors a high-collar that obscures some of his face. Decked out in a vibrant yellow, the archer holds an air of mysteriousness to him, with the trailer proclaiming him as someone with "overpowered hearing" --  which has very interesting implications for the series to come.

With the Science Kingdom's intent to get Taiju and Yuzuriha a cellphone, the risk of him overhearing them could lead either to their demise -- or the discovery of someone else who values science above power. He doesn't seem to be a pure-power type either, with his dialogue in the trailer having him concede defeat to an unknown enemy -- though his tone indicates that while the other person "won" the battle, he may have won the war. Either way, this mysterious character is not a good one to have around with his ear to the ground, listening in on the Science Kingdom's plans. As a mole, however... Could he be what turns the tide of the information battle?

Yo

Dr Stone Yo

Finally, there's Yo -- who seems, like Nikki, to be much more the kind of person Tsukasa would want in his kingdom. The "glum nightstick wielder," Yo is implied to be proficient in battle with a single still image. While he seems like a straightforward guy along the lines of Taiju as he professes his love for the "simplicity" of the de-petrified world, it's not his intellect (or lack thereof) that interests us -- it's the fact that he's still fairly petrified himself!

With a swarth of stone still covering his face, he'll be easy to pick out in a crowd, and the fact that the trailer implies him to be a proficient fighter while he effectively only has the use of one eye means that he's got to be one heck of a warrior. But will he want to stick with Tsukasa's simple world, or join the era of technology with Senku?

Overall, these three promise to change the cast dynamic of the series, bringing in a touch more bluntness to Tsukasa's overwhelming power and Senku's sharp wit, regardless of which side they end up choosing. Furthermore, as members of the old world, they also have pasts that could easily shape their futures (and the world's) as the Stone Wars begin.
