Disneyland Resort announced that it will sell programmable Spider-Bots to celebrate its grand opening of the Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park.

"Starting December 4th, get your very own Spider-Bot from Avengers Campus -- the holiday must-have -- available at #DowntownDisney District!" The resort tweeted, along with a link to a blog post about the new device.

The Spider-Bot design was first revealed at last year's D23 Expo as part of The Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB) presentation, which was devoted to empowering the next generation of heroes with cutting edge technologies. Mechanized Spider-Bots are also a major part of the new Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure ride scheduled to open at the Avengers Campus section of California Adventure when the park reopens.

According to Disney Parks Blog, the Spider-Bot can crawl backward and forward, crouch, spin 360 degrees, stare down with their laser eyes, attack opponent Spider-Bots and even blast off their shields.

The Spider-Bot will be available -- along with the latest WEB and Avengers-themed apparel -- in the Downtown Disney District, at both the World of Disney and Disneyland Resort Backlot Premiere shops beginning Dec. 4. Annual Passholders can also make a reservation for a special upcoming, limited-quantity pre-sale event in Downtown Disney taking place Nov. 30- Dec. 3. News of the Spider-Bot comes just days after LEGO announced plans to release it's own Spider-Man Monster Truck set. The kit consists of 439 pieces and includes Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, Doctor Octopus and Mysterio figures.

Similar to the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge area at Disneyland, the Avengers Campus will feature performers portraying iconic heroes -- including Spider-Man, Iron-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Black Widow and more -- alongside legendary villains like Taskmaster and Loki. The area will also feature new food locations for guests, including Pym Test Kitchen, where fans can use the famous “Pym Particles” to grow and shrink just about anything, as well as enjoy shareable bites, inventive-sized entrees and tiny treats. The Pym Tasting Lab next door will also offer grown-up beverages.

Disneyland has been closed since March, and its workers have been furloughed since April, amid the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In September, the Walt Disney Company also laid off approximately 28,000 employees from its Parks, Experiences and Products segment. The Disneyland and California Adventure parks, as well as other large theme parks across the state will remain closed until 2021 due to restrictions recently announced by California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
