While on a press tour for her role in Descendents 3, former Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. recurring star Dove Cameron expressed interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as either a villain, Peter Parker's longtime love interest Gwen Stacy... or both.

"Yeah, while I feel like a lot of them have been done recently but, I mean, I would love to play Gwen Stacy... or like a Marvel villain," Cameron told MTV when asked if she'd like to play a superhero.

However, Cameron added a unique twist to the Gwen Stacy option when Yahoo asked how she would like to portray the character in a Marvel Studios film with Tom Holland, saying, "I would love it if she, like, was an equal match... or a physical threat."

Gwen Stacy has yet to appear in the MCU and Peter and MJ made their relationship official in Spider-Man: Far From Home, it remains to be seen if she'd be introduced as a love interest to Holland's Peter Parker. That being said, Marvel Studios does have the tendency to put its own spin on the comic book source material so it's entirely possible Stacy could become Spidey's next threat.

Of course, whether that ultimately happens within the MCU or Sony's Universe of Marvel Character remains to be seen.

Dove Cameron currently provides the voice for Gwen Stacy (aka Ghost-Spider) in the animated Disney short Marvel Rising: Ghost Spider. The character was first portrayed on the big screen by Bryce Dallas Howard in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, followed by Emma Stone in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. Most recently, she was voiced by Hailee Steinfeld in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
