WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Doron Dororon Chapter 12, "Provisional Samurai," by Gen Oosuka, Camellia Nieh and Phil Christie, available in English at Viz and Manga Plus.

Jujutsu Kaisen's Satoru Gojo is enjoying the celebrity treatment from anime fans for his carefree personality and unparalleled might -- and a recently debuted character from Doron Dororon seems to share similar characteristics. However, the latter's version reveals a rather peculiar personality in Chapter 12, which also distinguishes him from Gojo.

Dora and Kusanagi could no longer keep their operation under the radar after defeating the dreaded Hanya Gyuuki. The duo was taken to the Izanagi force headquarters for questioning but surprisingly came out unscathed. This good fortune is largely because of Heisuke Ujii's vouching, though Dora and Kusanagi's genuine concern and admiration toward each other helped as well. With their biggest obstacle out of the way, the duo's path to getting stronger became closer and clearer.

Since Ujii backed up Kusanagi's prospects of being a great samurai ally for humans and even put his neck on the line for the Mononoke, he was forced to take the duo under his wing. Ujii was initially displeased to hear the proposal as it wasn't his intention to take them in, but was convinced to take the role after his superb fighting abilities were pointed out.

Yuusai Yagyu, Ginchiyo's grandfather, tasked him to eliminate Kusanagi the moment the Mononoke started acting up. After a week of resting, Dora finally made a complete recovery and was rearing to undergo training, but not before he and Kusanagi expressed their deep gratitude toward their savior.

After giving Dora his new uniform, Ujii began testing the duo's skills and sparred with them to check their current fighting ability. Even though he was pleased with their offensive power, he was quick to point out Dora's sloppy swordsmanship and lack of defenses. Ujii explained the importance of using supernatural energy for attacking as well as defending, then he tasked Dora to figure out a way around his zero supernatural energy level predicament.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Is Gojo Satoru Really Morally Gray?

Heisuke Ujii's demeanor rings a few bells, and Jujutsu Kaisen's beloved Satoru Gojo is the first to come to mind. When Gojo was first introduced, he had protagonist Yuji Itadori in chains and declared the latter's execution. He explained the existence of curses, specifically Ryomen Sukuna, as well as the current situation.

But instead of outright killing the boy, Gojo told Itadori of his plan to utilize his ability to suppress Sukuna for the world's sake -- the same way Ujii vouched for Kusanagi and Dora being a possible force to defeat the Mononoke. Interestingly, Gojo also boasted about forcing his idea on the elders -- whom he blatantly called cowards -- since he's the best jujutsu sorcerer there is. He consequently became Itadori's guardian, teacher and executor, which are basically the roles Ujii has been forced to assume in Doron Dororon.

While there is an uncanny semblance between the two powerful teacher figures, Ujii's active seeking of respect and admiration is in stark contrast with Gojo's arrogant and prideful personality. In fact, Ujii's difficulty in hiding his glee from genuine respect from Dora and Kusanagi greatly humbles his character, further differentiating him from Gojo's immaculate-looking image.

Doron Dororon is still only a few chapters along, so it's still too soon to conclude Heisuke Ujii's character being a Gojo copy. However, his actions so far match Jujutsu Kaisen's beloved teacher in more ways than one. Fans of both series will have to wait for more updates to ascertain whether or not the resemblance between the two characters will persist -- and whether or not it will age well.
