The upcoming Dora the Explorer live-action film, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, has added a new actor to its star-studded cast in a fan-favorite role.Danny Trejo announced on Twitter account that he will voice Dora's trusty simian companion, Boots, in the eagerly anticipated film, just hours after the first theatrical poster for the movie confirmed the character's role.RELATED: Benicio del Toro to Voice the Villain in Dora the Explorer Movie

In addition to announcing his role in the film, Trejo confirmed that the first trailer for the film will premiere during the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards this Saturday evening, providing fans with a first-look at the live-action adaptation of the popular animated series that ran from 2000 to 2014.

The film is a continuation of the series, with Dora beginning high school only to depart to South America to rescue her kidnapped parents being held in the ruins of a lost Incan city. What role Boots will play in the adventure has yet to be seen.

Directed by James Bobin, Dora and the Lost City of Gold stars Isabela Moner, Eugenio Derbez, Temuera Morrison, Eva Longoria, Michael Peña, Adriana Barraza, Q'orianka Kilcher, Danny Trejo and Benicio del Toro as Swiper. It hits theaters on August 9.
