Dora and the Lost City of Gold has received its first trailer, and the previously animated character embarks on a new adventure that takes her from the jungle to the concrete walls of high school.

The film is a continuation of the animated series, which ran from 2004 to 2014 on Nick Jr. The movie sees Dora beginning high school only to depart to South America to rescue her kidnapped parents, who are being held in the ruins of a lost Incan city.

The official synopsis for the movie reads,

Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.

Directed by James Bobin, Dora and the Lost City of Gold stars Isabela Moner, Eugenio Derbez, Temuera Morrison, Eva Longoria, Michael Peña, Adriana Barraza, Q'orianka Kilcher, Danny Trejo and Benicio del Toro as Swiper. It hits theaters on August 9.
