The end of the New 52 and start of the subsequent DC Rebirth era revealed that Doctor Manhattan tampered with the fabric of reality in the DC Universe, culminating in the landmark story Doomsday Clock.

While Manhattan would restore elements of the classic DCU, including the Justice Society of America and Legion of Super-Heroes, before returning to his own world, the after effects have continued to reverberate. According to Joshua Williamson, who helms the upcoming Infinite Frontier era coming to the DCU this March, Manhattan's tampering will be felt by the heroes as they explore this brave, new world.

"Doctor Manhattan had stolen these things from them -- the legacy, the hope, the idea of things being generational -- he stole it but now they have it all back," Williamson told CBR. "And so they're exploring what that means and those concepts as they go through."

Dark Nights: Death Metal revealed that Manhattan's cosmic awareness allowed him to see and manipulate the tangles in reality caused by the DC Multiverse's constant Crises. While Death Metal ended with a new DC Multiverse rising from the ashes of the crossover event's story, Manhattan's influence isn't so easily overcome.

Written and illustrated by a whole host of superstar comic book creators, Infinite Frontier #0 goes on sale March 2 from DC.
