Artist Gary Frank took a moment over the weekend to give fans a throwback treat by posting a photo of a drawing of Kingdom Come Superman. The timing of Frank's work couldn't come at a more opportune time, with actor Brandon Routh set to portray the fan-favorite interpretation of the character in The CW's upcoming "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover. With his work on Doomsday Clock alongside Geoff Johns nearing its end, Frank turned his attention away from the twelve-issue miniseries to pay homage with the illustration.

Kingdom Come is a four-issue miniseries created by Mark Waid and Alex Ross under DC's Elseworlds imprint. Released in 1996 and set in the year 2020, the series focuses on Superman's era of heroes being succeeded by a new crop of do-gooders. With the announcement that Routh would be stepping into the red boots of the Man of Steel for the first time since 2006, the story has been put squarely back in the spotlight.

Frank's drawing was not only met with praise from fans but even fellow creators. Former Justice League writer Brad Meltzer and Rafael Albuquerque both tweeted out their approval of Frank's work.
