HBO Max has officially pulled the plug on its live-action DC shows Doom Patrol and Titans.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Doom Patrol and Titans are slated to come to an end with their respective, ongoing fourth seasons. The outlet's sources explain that Doom Patrol and Titans' respective producers "saw the writing on the wall" amid all the changes currently taking place at DC. As such, they made it a point to ensure that both Doom Patrol Season 4 and Titans Season 4 ended on conclusive notes.

"While these will be the final seasons of Titans and Doom Patrol, we are very proud of these series and excited for fans to see their climactic endings," an HBO Max spokesperson said. For Doom Patrol, we celebrate showrunner Jeremy Carver and executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns, Chris Dingess and Tamara Becher-Wilkinson. For four seasons, fans have fallen in love with the Titans and Doom Patrol, investing in their trials and tribulations, and in their legendary battles saving the world time and time again."

"I'm immensely proud of our gifted cast, crew and writing staff and their efforts in bringing to life all 49 episodes over the last five-plus years," Titans showrunner Greg Walker said. "I couldn't have asked for better partners in Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television, and HBO Max, and from the beginning, Geoff Johns and Akiva Goldsman. I'm incredibly grateful for their unyielding trust throughout this process. Lastly, I have to thank our incredible fans for their continued support, engagement, and the passionate community they've built around our show. We have six episodes left to unleash upon the world that we hope will give our beloved characters the creative closure we all know they deserve."

"To our wonderfully supportive partners at HBO Max, Warner Bros. To our brilliant cast, indomitable crew, fearless writing staff and, most of all, to our beautiful fans: thank you all the more. You made this a once-in-a-lifetime ride."

Titans and Doom Patrol Were DC Universe Originals

Prior to streaming on HBO Max, both Titans and Doom Patrol initially premiered on the now-defunct DC Universe streaming service. Titans hit the platform in October 2018, with its fourth episode serving as a backdoor pilot for Doom Patrol (though the two shows are actually set in different continuities). Doom Patrol itself premiered on DC Universe in February 2019. Titans returned for a second season on the platform in 2019, with Doom Patrol's own second season airing on DC Universe and HBO Max simultaneously in 2020.

When DC Universe folded, Doom Patrol became exclusive to HBO Max and Titans similarly jumped ship to the new platform. Titans premiered its third season on HBO Max in August 2021, with Doom Patrol Season 3 arriving the following month. Titans Season 4 and Doom Patrol Season 4 then premiered in November 2022 and December 2022, respectively. Both shows are currently on mid-season break, each having six episodes to go.

With Titans and Doom Patrol coming to an end on HBO Max and Stargirl having recently been canceled by The CW, HBO Max's adult animated series Harley Quinn (which has been renewed for Season 4) will be the last surviving show to originate from DC Universe.
