An ambiguous Instagram post from one Doom Patrol star left fans of the show questioning the fate of a main character or even the series itself.

Diane Guerrero, who plays Crazy Jane on the HBO Max series, posted a short reel that included her character in the series to her Instagram stories with the caption, "Goodbye my beloved." Guerrero has since deleted the post, but Redditor DrAwesomeX took a screenshot of the story and shared it on the DCEULeaks subreddit, questioning whether this meant HBO had canceled Doom Patrol.

Will Jane Die in Doom Patrol Season 4?

Doom Patrol's first half of Season 4 ended on a massive cliffhanger, with potential world-ending events nearly colliding at once. Jane and all the team but Cliff lost their longevity in Wally Sage's bid to bring about Immortus. The sixth episode, "Hope Patrol," also saw Jane continue her journey towards self-love, something she's struggled with throughout the show and particularly this season. It left off with every member of the Doom Patrol in some form of life-threatening danger, making fans wait until the show returns to see if everyone makes it out alive.

Guerrero recently spoke with CBR about the challenges Jane faces in Season 4. Specifically, she described how Jane's forced to "face herself" in Season 4 now that the other personalities, including Kay, have largely taken a backseat. With her longevity taken and Jane pushed into middle age, she realizes her focus on protecting Kay has led to her dropping the ball on the other aspects of her job, ultimately questioning what the point is.

HBO Cancels Multiple Projects

In 2022, HBO canceled several significant projects, including multiple DC titles, the most notable being Batgirl. Fans of Doom Patrol expressed concern that the series might also get the ax, but showrunner Jeremy Carver downplayed the possibility. "As long as you have a fresh and inventive story to tell with your writers, and the actors are still into it, you have the ability to generate high-quality stories," he said. "We start to see that with this season as the Doom Patrol, thematically, are being asked to ask themselves, 'Okay, we see we are going to die. We need to save ourselves… But at what cost?'"

It remains unclear whether Guerrero's deleted post could have indicated a dire fate for either the show or Jane herself. The series has yet to reveal news on a possible Season 5 or when the second half of the current season might air.
