The trailer for Season 3 of Doom Patrol is finally here, along with a poster teasing the chaos to come.

HBO Max dropped the first proper look at the new season ahead of its debut on the streaming service later this year, and it picks up right where the tumultuous events of Season 2 left the misfit team. Things only get trickier from there when Michelle Gomez's Madame Rouge shows up in a time machine -- but without her memories. Check out the trailer, poster, and synopsis for Season 3 below:

Season three opens on the culmination of Dorothy’s (Abi Monterey) confrontation with the Candlemaker that leads to a devastating loss. The Doom Patrol is at a difficult crossroads and each member struggles to face who they are and who they want to be. And things get a whole lot more complicated when Madame Rouge (Michelle Gomez) arrives in a time machine with a very specific mission, if only she could remember it.

Gomez's Madame Rouge was previously teased with a set of images of the character, who is a villain in the comics and part of the Brotherhood of Evil. But while the trailer makes clear that the Brotherhood will arrive in Season, showrunner Jeremy Carver said Rouge won't be a cut and dry baddie.

"When I was talking to [Michelle] about the part, I was trying to explain to her that in our eyes the Madame Rouge of Doom Patrol is much like the other characters in that you can't quite pin them as good or bad," Carver said. "They've all done things they're ashamed of, but that doesn't necessarily make them bad people."

The other members of the Brotherhood, however, seem more straightforward. A teaser for Season 3 of Doom Patrol provided the first glimpse of The Brain and Monsieur Mallah, a French mastermind's brain in a small robot and a hyper-intelligent gorilla, respectively. They're two of the strangest DC villains, but that hasn't stopped them from popping up on shows like Young JusticeTeen Titans, and now, Doom Patrol.

Fellow Brotherhood member Garguax, who looks a lot like Brainiac, can also be seen. And Rouge, meanwhile, teases the Sisterhood of Dada, a twist on the Brotherhood of Dada from Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol run in the comics.

Season 3 of Doom Patrol premieres Sept. 23 on HBO Max.
