Doom Patrol has been renewed for Season 3, but not on the streaming service that launched it.

The DC TV series, which premiered on DC Universe, will return on Warner Bros.' new streaming service HBO Max in 2021. Season 3 will join Seasons 1 and 2 on the HBO Max platform. A brief teaser accompanied the announcement, although it reuses footage from Season 1 and does not offer any hints about the direction of Season 3.

"On behalf of the wonderful cast, writers and crew, we are thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to return to Doom Manor," executive producer Jeremy Carver said in a statement. "And we are especially thankful for our partners at Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television, DC UNIVERSE and, of course, HBO Max."

"Doom Patrol came to HBO Max with an already deep and passionate fan base and has risen to the top as one of the most watched Max Originals on the platform," added HBO Max Head of Original Content Sarah Aubrey. "The series sits well in our portfolio and we are glad to greenlight a third season to continue this distinctive style of storytelling that resonates so well with critics and fans alike."

Doom Patrol Season 2 left the team in dire straits, as the day Niles "The Chief" Caulder feared finally arrived. His daughter Dorothy "grew up" on her last outing on her father, and the Candlemaker was unleashed on an unsuspecting carnival. By the time the Doom Patrol arrived, it was too late; they were forced to confront their childhood imaginary friends, and each one of them succumbed to the Candlemaker's wiles. As a result, Dorothy set out to face the Candlemaker alone, only for him to pick her up and pull her back into a bonfire as Niles looked on in horror. As it stands, it is unclear who -- or what -- could save the Doom Patrol now.

Arriving on HBO Max in 2021, Doom Patrol Season 3 stars Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Matt Bomer as Larry Trainer, April Bowlby as Rita Farr, Jovian Wade as Vic Stone, Abigail Shapiro as Dorothy Spinner and Timothy Dalton as Niles Caulder.
