Doom Patrol is returning for a fourth season on HBO Max.
At DC FanDome 2021, it was officially confirmed that Doom Patrol had been renewed for Season 4, meaning the live-action adventures of DC's resident Island of Misfit Toys aren't through just yet. As part of FanDome, HBO Max also dropped a new mid-season trailer for Doom Patrol, hyping the remaining episodes of Season 3.
Based on the DC comic books originally created by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani -- and subsequently reimagined by the likes of Grant Morrison and Gerard Way, among others -- Doom Patrol initially premiered on the now-defunct DC Universe streaming service back in 2019. The show's characters subsequently popped up in the Arrowverse's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" event on The CW.
Doom Patrol later returned for a second season, which premiered in 2020, releasing simultaneously on DC Universe and the newly-launched HBO Max. Amid the restructuring of DC Universe, it was announced that the show would be moving exclusively to HBO Max for its third season. Doom Patrol Season 3 premiered late last month, dropping its first three episodes on Sept. 23, with subsequent episodes releasing on a weekly basis. The season is slated to run for 10 episodes and will conclude on Nov. 11, bringing Doom Patrol's total episode count to 34 -- until Season 4 drops, that is.
Doom Patrol stars Brendan Fraser as Robotman, Matt Bomer as Negative Man, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, April Bowlby as Elasti-Girl, Joivan Wade as Cyborg, Timothy Dalton as The Chief and Skye Roberts as Kay Challis. Season 3 has also added a new main cast member in Michelle Gomez, who portrays Madame Rouge.
DOOM PATROL reimagines one of DC’s most beloved groups of superheroes who all suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities, but also left them scarred and disfigured. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. In season three, the Doom Patrol is at a difficult crossroads and each member struggles to face who they are and who they want to be. And things get a whole lot more complicated when Madame Rouge arrives in a time machine with a very specific mission, if only she could remember it.
New episodes of Doom Patrol Season 3 drop Thursdays on HBO Max. Season 4 does not currently have a release date.
