The next episode of Doom Patrol will feature the mind-altering villains known as the Scants. They first appeared in Gerard Way and Mike Allred’s 2017 run of the comic from DC's Young Animal's imprint, and they're just as weird as you might expect.

The new image released by DC Universe features the Queen of Scants sitting upon her throne surrounded by her fellow Scants, and their entire bodies are pink. The queen is in a bright yellow dress, holding a cup as she smiles intently, but it wouldn’t be wise to trust her.

The episode is titled "Dumb Patrol," alluding to the abilities that the Scants possess. They have the power of suggestion, secretly placing bad ideas in the heads of their targets. Once the ideas are accepted as good ones, those affected then secrete a substance called Idyat from their ears, which the Scants use to harvest invisible goop.

Way took much of his inspiration from Grant Morrison’s run of the comic that the live-action series borrows consistently from. The My Chemical Romance vocalist is  known for his ventures into the weird, as he also created Umbrella Academy, the comic book turned Netflix series about super-powered individuals born from an immaculate conception and trained to be heroes. (Recently, the Doom Patrol Twitter account jokingly pointed out that they were "here first.")

Streaming now on DC Universe and HBO Max, Doom Patrol also stars Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele, Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor, Diana Guerrero as Crazy Jane, April Bowlby as Rita Farr, Joivan Wade as Vic Stone and Timothy Dalton as Niles Caulder.
