Actor Jovian Wade has bid farewell to his Doom Patrol character Cyborg following news that the DC superhero drama will not return for a fifth season on HBO Max."The last 4 Years of my life have been an absolute dream," Wade wrote in a statement shared on his Twitter account. "The memories I will take with me from this will be unmeasured. The lessons, the skill, the insight, the friendships and the story’s. It was LITERALLY my dream. Like I’m talking ‘when I grow up, I wanna be a superhero’ kinda dream. To which some believed was unattainable but I thank the little version of me for never giving up. But giving it all he has to manifest this beautiful role. Victor stone, thank you for letting me connect. And bring you to life. In doing so you brought me to life in a whole new way."RELATED: Doom Patrol Star's Deleted Post Indicates an Ominous Fate for the Show

Wade also thanked his co-stars, the Doom Patrol crew and production companies and the fans for their hard work and support throughout the show's four-season run. The actor has appeared as Victor "Vic" Stone/Cyborg on Doom Patrol since Season 1, joining the team because of the character's longtime friendship with the Chief. The rest of the show's ensemble cast includes Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, April Bowlby as Rita Farr/Elasti-Woman, Matt Bomer and Matthew Zuk as Larry Trainor/Negative Man, Brendan Fraser and Riley Shanahan as Cliff Steele/Robotman and Michelle Gomez as Laura DeMille/Madame Rouge. Doom Patrol was canceled alongside fellow DC series Titans in January 2023, with both slated to end with their respective, ongoing fourth seasons.

James Gunn Is Not Responsible for Doom Patrol's Cancellation

Shortly after reports of the cancellations emerged, some DC fans quickly blamed new DC Studios co-chair and co-CEO James Gunn for ending the fan-favorite series. However, Gunn recently revealed that he wasn't responsible for pulling the plug on the HBO Max shows and that the decision to cancel both series was made before he and fellow co-chair and co-CEO Peter Safran assumed control of the studio. "I certainly wish the best for the talented group of creators, actors, and the rest of the crew that produced both shows," he wrote in a Twitter message.
