Marvel Comics writer Donny Cates -- known for his work on such titles as Venom, Thor and Cosmic Ghost Rider -- has decided to offer a bit of relief to the comic book readers and retailers affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, paying off all outstanding customer pull lists at a Texas-based comic shop.

On Facebook, Austin Books & Comics informed its patrons of the "great news" that their pull lists had been paid for. "Most, if not all, of you know the comic writer Donny Cates," the Austin-based retailer wrote. "In an amazing show of support for not only the store but for you as well, he has decided to pay for your pull lists! If you still had a pull list in the store as of yesterday [April 13], it's now paid up."

In return, Cates simply asks that those whose comics he paid for take the money they saved as a result and use it to buy other merchandise they may not have been able to afford beforehand from The Center of Austin Fandom -- which includes Austin Books & Comics, Outlaw Moon Games & Toys, The Sidekick Store and Guzu Gallery. "Try some new series, get a board game, buy a statue for a friend in need," the Facebook posts urges.

"Donny has shown once again that we are a community; that we help each other out," Austin Books & Comics said to wrap up its statement. "That is exactly what the world needs right now."
