Writer Donny Cates has introduced some wild concepts into the Marvel Universe, most notably during his runs on Venom and Thanos. And he might be contemplating another one, particularly where Spider-Man is concerned.

User Ronnie Dooley posted a page from Venomnibus Vol. 1 to Twitter. The page features a 1993 parody character named Bile, a "cannibalistic madman with the proportionate strength and gross eating habits of a spider." Dooley asked Cates if he had any plans for the character. "I've been thinking about that idea since I was a little kid when I first read that...so...maybe!??" Cates responded.

Even though Bile was a parody, his design resembles a symbiotic Spider-Man. Given Cates' penchant for cosmic horror, it would not be a stretch for him to introduce Bile as a new symbiote character.

Cates took over as writer of Venom in 2018 with artist Ryan Stegman. The book has received critical acclaim and introduced a number of new concepts to the lore of symbiotes. Cates and Stegman also reunited for the Absolute Carnage event series, which resurrected the symbiotic serial killer Carnage as a disciple of the eldritch god Knull.

Venom #25 by Cates and Mark Bagley, the conclusion to the "Venom Island" series, goes on sale May 27.
