Buzz for the upcoming Han Solo film hit critical mass when it was announced Donald Glover would be joining the galaxy far, far away as a younger Lando Calrissian. As to be expected, Disney has been incredibly coy about revealing images from the early days of filming for the highly-anticipated spin-off, but fans can now get a tease of Glover's most impressive transformation into the fan-favorite former smuggler.
The image comes courtesy of Han Solo co-star Woody Harrelson's Instagram, and shows Glover channeling his inner Billy Dee Williams via Lando's signature moustache. The actor isn't just relying on physical appearance, however, as Glover is hard at work embodying such a beloved character from one of Hollywood's dearest franchises.
“This is probably one of my favorite experiences ever,” Glover shared in a recent interview. “For working under, like, a huge conglomerate, it’s actually been quite an enjoyable, artistic thing. I get to play [Lando] in a way that I think is honest and true and cool...and I really respect him and I respect the actor who played him before. I’ve learned a lot about this character..."
Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller from a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, the Han Solo film stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams and Woody Harrelson. The as-yet-untitled Star Wars anthology film arrives on May 25, 2018.
