The secrets of Star Wars: Episode IX may be too much for even a ruthless commander of the First Order to bear.

Actor Domhnall Gleeson, who will reprise his role as General Armitage Hux in the upcoming sequel, has confessed he regrets reading the script, out of fear that he will let a spoiler slip.

"I made the terrible mistake of reading the script, I know everything," he said during a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. "The nightmare is falling asleep on public transport ... The nightmare is you wake up on a plane and someone's dictating. You wake up and your mouth is shaping words, you wake up and you're like 'Skywalker did this.' And then you realize you don't know how long you've been speaking, and there's a kid filming, there's somebody writing it down. And because you're in the air, you say, 'We need to have a talk before we land, I can access my bank account.'"

While that scenario may be far-fetched, the concern that the stars of a high-profile franchise like Star Wars might inadvertently disclose plot details certainly isn't. Actor Richard E. Grant recently dismissed rumors that he's playing the fan-favorite antagonist Grand Admiral Thrawn in Episode IX, before adding, "I’m not allowed to tell you anything, otherwise I would be fired. It’s a complete lockdown on any information whatsoever.”

Directed by JJ Abrams, Star Wars: Episode IX stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. It is scheduled to open on Dec. 20, 2019.
