Marc Guggenheim's tweet kicking off production of the filming of an episode of "Arrow" just might be teasing another supernatural character being introduced to the Arrowverse. Using the moment to congratulate first time director, Kristin Windell, Guggenheim also posted a photo of the script, and the title of the 13th episode brought immediate speculation that some form of The Spectre could be making judgment on Star City this season.

While the word spectre typically refers to a ghost, given the show's ability to use a variety of DC heroes and villains, bringing the Spirit of Vengeance to the show should not come as a surprise. In the DC Universe, The Spectre is most commonly "the voice of God," a vengeful spirit hosted by a human. In times of great evil, The Spectre appears and unleashes the fury and wrath of the heavens. Given that the entire last season was spent establishing that magic exists in the Arrowverse, and the fact that Team Arrow is about to fight off an alien invasion, having some form of The Spectre on the show is plausible.

In addition, the show has already used one DC character established on another show and network, using  NBC's version of John Constantine (Matt Ryan). On that same show, one of the former hosts of The Spectre, Detective Jim Corrigan, was played by actor Emmett J. Scanlan for a few episodes. Bringing in Scanlan to play Corrgian is one possibility, or they could recast the role of Corrigan. They could also attempt to bring Corrigan in as bad cop, having him turn on, and kill his partner Crispus Allen.  Taken from the pages of Gotham Central, a comic series by Ed Brubaker and Greg Rucka (writers) along with Michael Lark (pencils), Allen then comes from the dead to host The Spectre and seek revenge.

Then again... it could all be ruse. Fans will have to till "Arrow" returns from winter break in mid-January to find out. Currently, the show is preparing for it's 100th episode, one that will see a surprise wedding, and will then return with a mid-season finale that finds Team Arrow having their identities comprised. Even if The Spectre appears, a little holier than thou vengeance is just another Wednesday evening for the Green Arrow and his teammates.

Starring Stephen Amell as the Emerald Archer, “Arrow” airs Wednesdays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, John Barrowman, Willa Holland and more.
