WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for the first episode of the Doctor Who animated series Daleks!, "The Archive of Islos," available now on YouTube.

The animated series Daleks! is the latest addition to the multi-platform Doctor Who crossover, Time Lord Victorious. The event stretches across animation, comics, novels and more to tell one overarching story involving the Dark Times, the mysterious era preceding the creation of the universe. Already, the Daleks and the Doctor faced each other (following a brief team-up) in the Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious: Defender of the Daleks two-part comic, and now, the alien villains' story continues.

In the animated series' first episode, the Daleks invade the planet Islos, a mission spearheaded by the Dalek Emperor himself. However, he's not alone because he's also got his new Prime Strategist with him, as well as a new character: the Dalek Executioner.

In "The Archive of Islos," the Daleks attack the titular planet, but their goal isn't to destroy everything on it. In truth, they seek important knowledge that is contained within the planet's Archive. The invasion is lead by the Dalek Emperor, who gives the command to attack to his new enforcer, the Dalek Executioner.

The Dalek Executioner was previously mentioned in other Time Lord Victorious chapters, in the audiobook The Enemy of my Enemy and the Tales of the Dark Times story. However, his presence in the Daleks! animated series is noteworthy in and of itself, seeing as how it features the character's full televised debut. He sets himself apart from the other Daleks thanks to his black color scheme, glowing red-eye and three-pronged arm.

Doctor-Who-Daleks

In the premiere episode of Daleks!, the Executioner enforces the Emperor's command, and he leads the brutal attack against the people of Islos. He truly lives up to his name in the episode, which is saying something considering that all Daleks are experts when it comes to exterminating life. But the Dalek Executioner is the chief killer among killers, which speaks to the danger he represents.

Along with the Emperor and the Dalek Prime Strategist (another new Dalek introduced in Time Lord Victorious), the Dalek Executioner completes an unholy trinity of Dalek leadership. Together, all three make for an even more organized and lethal alien race, and that will most assuredly become a problem for the Doctor as Time Lord Victorious continues.

Daleks! is available to stream for free on the official Doctor Who YouTube channel. Doctor Who stars Jodie Whittaker as the 13th iteration of the titular Time Lord. Whittaker is joined by co-stars Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill in a series helmed by showrunner Chris Chibnall. The next episode, "Revolution of the Daleks," will air this holiday season on BBC America. All previous 11 seasons will stream on HBO Max later this year.
