BBC America is welcoming Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor in grand style, with a theatrical release for the Aug. 23 Season 8 premiere, and a live pre-show and post-show.

The cable channel is partnering with Fathom Events for Doctor Who Season Premiere: Deep Breath, with theatrical screenings in 12 U.S. cities at midnight Aug. 23, and a wider release (in 550 select theaters nationwide) on Aug. 25. Those screenings will feature 15 minutes of exclusive content. More details will be available Aug. 5 on the Fathom Events website.

In addition, Chris Hardwick will play host Aug. 23 to the Doctor Who: Live Pre-Show, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET/PT, and Doctor Who: After Who Live, at 11 p.m. ET/PT, following the premiere of Intruders. Both will feature guests and behind-the-scenes footage.

But wait -- there's still more: BBC and BBC America have released more photos from the season premiere, set for Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Capaldi joins returning Doctor Who alums Jenna Coleman (Clara), Neve McIntosh (Vastra), Catrin Stewart (Jenny Flint) and Dan Starkey (Strax) for the episode, an adventure in Victorian London directed by Ben Wheatley and written by Steven Moffat.
