BBC One has debuted a new trailer for this year's Doctor Who Christmas Special, the somewhat ominously titled "Last Christmas."
The 35-second clip finds the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) whisking away Clara (Jenna Coleman) to the North Pole, which is naturally enough beset by aliens. Here, read the official synopsis:
Four crew members of an Ice Cap Polar Base – Ashley Carter, Bellows, Professor Albert and Shona – are under attack from the alien Kantrofarri. Fortunately for them, help is on the way. But desperate though their situation is, how willing will they be to accept one rescuer who arrives in a police box, and another who turns up on a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer?
That other rescuer, as the image above suggests, is none other than Saint Nick, played by guest star Nick Frost.
However, between the Special's title and the words scrawled on the blackboard in the trailer, we know everything isn't cheery. Evidence also seems to point to this being Coleman's farewell to the series.
"Last Christmas" airs Dec. 25 on BBC One and BBC America.
