WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for the latest episode of Doctor Who, “Asension of the Cybermen,” which premiered Sunday on BBC.

"Ascension of the Cybermen" picks up right where the last episode of Doctor Who left off. In "The Haunting of Villa Diodati," the Lone Cyberman found the Cyberium and traveled to the far future in the hopes of restoring the Cybermen Empire. Despite failing to heed Jack Harkness' warning, the Doctor has chased the Cyberman through time itself. Now, in Season 12's penultimate episode, the Doctor and her friends find themselves in the final days of the Cyber Wars.

The conflict, which took place between humans and Cybermen, has left only a handful of survivors. Now, the last humans are trying to get to a safe haven, while the last Cybermen are trying to kill their remaining enemies. And as the battle rages on, we witness the addition of two new types of Cybermen to the Doctor Who mythos.

Throughout Doctor Who's 57-year history, we have seen plenty of different Cybermen. From the first Mondasian Cybermen to the modern reimagining of the murderous cyborgs, there have been plenty of iterations of the villains to set one apart from the other. We've even seen new additions to their ranks, like the Cybermats and Cybermites. And now, we can add two new classes to the Cybermen ranks.

The Cyber Drones

When the Doctor and her companions first find the last human survivors of the Cyber Warriors, they quickly find themselves under attack by a frightening new Cybermen model: the Cyber Drones. The Cyber Drones are, essentially, floating Cybermen heads that fly in a group and shoot lasers out of their eyes.

The whooshing sound they make as they fly overhead likens them to Star Wars' TIE Fighters, and it makes them even more menacing. Their large numbers make them hard to evade, and their relatively small sizes make them difficult to take down.

The Cyber Warriors

Later in the episode, Graham, Yaz and other human survivors find themselves on a Cybermen transport ship. But while they initially thought the ship to be empty, they quickly discover that it is housing legions of Cybermen who are, for the time being, simply dormant. Unfortunately, the Lone Cyberman finds himself on the ship, and he proceeds to awaken this army to bolster his fallen Empire's numbers. But these aren't just any old Cyberman. These are Cyber Warriors, a soldier class of Cybermen who are more menacing, and even deadlier.

The Cyber Warriors are similar in design to your classic Cybermen, but they have distinct attributes that set them apart. Their armor is bulkier, sharper and outfitted with spikes, and their head designs feature an added light at the top. Finally, since they are fresh out of the box, these Cyberman are shinier than usual, and in truly pristine condition.

We have yet to see the Cyber Warriors in action, but we are certain they will live up to their name. With the addition of the Cyber Drones, Cyber Warriors and the frightening half-human, half-cyborg Lone Cyberman, the Cybermen have never been more dangerous -- or terrifying.

Doctor Who stars Jodie Whittaker as the 13th iteration of the titular Time Lord.
