Following Jerad Marantz's reveal of unused Dormammu concept art for Doctor Strange, the artist has unveiled his original designs for the Zealots. Unlike the final version of the characters we saw in the film, these designs feature a horror-esque depiction of the villainous characters.

"I was playing around with a lot of ideas," Marantz wrote on Instagram. "This concept was focusing on their bodies being shattered between two dimensions." Since this group of characters didn't have any presence in the comic book source material, we can only compare this version to the final design that Marvel Studios chose for the film, which featured a more "human" look with apparel akin to those who train under The Ancient One.

Led by Kaecilius, the Zealots are a group of evil sorcerers that defected from the lessons of the Ancient One and chose to follow the ideology of Dormammu. Throughout the film, the Zealots attempt to stop Stephen Strange in his efforts to protect Earth from being consumed by the Dark Dimension.

Considering the film's sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is going to be Marvel Studios' first venture into the horror genre and will be delving deeper into the Multiverse, we may actually see this different take on the characters.
