"Doctor Strange" conjured another $14.9 million Friday at the North American box office, placing the Marvel Studios film on a course to a $43 million second weekend.

That will be enough to take the top spot again, not only fending off competition from "Trolls" and newcomer "Arrival," but also besting the  $36.6 million second-weekend haul of "Thor: The Dark World" in November 2013.

As of Friday the Scott Derrickson film has grossed $124.9 million in North America and $240 internationally, for a global haul of nearly $365 million.

"Doctor Strange" was followed on Friday by Fox's "Trolls," which earned $12.2 million on its way to an expected $34 million to $35 million second frame.

"Doctor Strange” tells the story of world-renowned neurosurgeon Stephen Strange who, after a career-ending car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.

The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, Benjamin Bratt, Scott Adkins, Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton.
