The Marvel Cinematic Universe's Master of the Mystic Arts makes a patriotic appeal to fight the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson shared a poster of the mage within a red, white and blue border. Strange is facing the viewer, pointing out with his right hand above the command: "I WANT YOU TO STAY HOME." Below in smaller letters are the words "AVOID COVID-19."

The image riffs off the famous World War I recruiting poster featuring a stern Uncle Sam pointing at the viewer above the title "I WANT YOU FOR U.S. ARMY." According to Time magazine, the image was repurposed from a James Montgomery Flagg cover titled, "What Are You Doing for Preparedness?" for the July 6, 1916 issue of Leslie's Weekly magazine.

The original poster doesn't identify Uncle Sam -- though the majority of Americans know who he is -- but Derrickson's poster has Strange's name at the top, with his first name spelled as "Steven." Strange is painted to resemble Benedict Cumberbatch, who appeared as the character in Doctor Strange (2016), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters May 7, 2021.
