Although Rachel McAdams' Christine Palmer was an important character in Doctor Strange, she will reportedly not return for the sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

When Variety revealed Sam Raimi was in talks to direct the film, the outlet also made note of McAdams' omission, though no reasons were provided.

In Doctor Strange, McAdams' Christine Palmer is Stephen Strange's ex-girlfriend and an anchor to his life before becoming a sorcerer. The character appears in the comics as a hero in her own right called Night Nurse.

Though we won't see the return of Palmer, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will reportedly introduce several new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Young Avenger America Chavez/Miss America, Brother Voodoo, Clea and a yet-to-be-revealed mystery character that some believe could be Namor.

As for the status of Doctor Strange's right-hand-man Wong, actor Benedict Wong expects his character to show up in the sequel, though this hasn't been officially confirmed.
