These days, virtually every blockbuster undergoes reshoots for a number of reasons. Generally, it's not a sign of the film's quality, though sometimes it can be to fix aspects that aren't working. Marvel Studios films typically bring back the actors for reshoots a few months after principal photography wraps, and Doctor Strange 2 is no exception. The difference, however, is that the movie has seemingly already had reshoots.

Back in September, costar Elizabeth Olsen's hairstylist confirmed that they had wrapped on the film again, teasing the end of reshoots, at least for the Scarlet Witch actor. Now, it appears the movie will get around two additional months of reshoots, which comes on the heels of Marvel pushing back the film's release -- and much of its 2022 and 2023 slate.

Last week, Marvel Studios pushed back almost its entire established slate, claiming it was for production reasons. "It's production shifts and changes, and because we have so many slots, we can just shift slots," Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige said. "So, all the Marvel slots are the same, we're just shifting the movies coming out."

Many have speculated that it was to fix creative issues, however, with Doctor Strange 2, the first film to get bumped, singled out. Cumberbatch's comment about "making it even better" could even be addressing this. Regardless of the current quality of the film, the team behind it now has plenty of time to make all the changes they see fit.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness arrives in theaters on its new date of May 6, 2022.
