Original plans saw Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness aiming for a June start date. Since then, both the film's start and release dates have been delayed to accommodate the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

No concrete plot details for The Multiverse of Madness have been revealed. However, rumors suggest that Wiccan and Speed, the superhero offspring of Wanda Maximoff, will play a major role in the film. Fellow Young Avengers member America Chavez is also rumored to play a role in The Multiverse of Madness.

Cumberbatch has previously played the role of Doctor Strange in his solo film, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The Multiverse of Madness will mark his fifth time inhabiting the role.

Directed by Sam Raimi, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Elizabeth Olsen. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 25, 2022.
