For the first time since 2016's Doctor Strange, Rachel McAdams will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to Deadline, McAdams will reprise her role as Christine Palmer in Doctor Strange in the Mulitverse of Madness. Though the size of her role is unknown at this time, she is expected to appear alongside Stephen Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch and Benedict Wong's Wong. Chiwetel Ejiofor will also return as Karl Mordo.

In Doctor Strange, McAdams' Christine Palmer worked alongside Stephen Strange as a surgeon at Metro-General Hospital. His ex-girlfriend, she also served as an anchor in his life before he became a sorcerer. In the comics, the character appears as a hero called Night Nurse.

In addition to Cumberbatch, Wong and Ejiofor, McAdams joins Scarlet Witch actor Elizabeth Olsen and The Baby-Sitters Club star Xochitl Gomez, who joined the project in an as-yet unknown role. The film, which planned to begin shooting in late October to early November, seems to have started production as recently as last month. Originally, director Sam Raimi planned to start filming the sequel in June. Filming was unfortunately delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Directed by Sam Raimi, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen and Xochitl Gomez. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 25, 2022. Cumberbatch previously played the role of the Sorcerer Supreme in Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, which can all be currently streamed on Disney+.
